Need help- German Food- for school activity

If I were you, and you have a crock pot to keep them warm in, I would take the wurst idea one step further and make currywurst--which is an extremely common and popular fast food over here. Wurst is cut into bite sized pieces and put into the mildly spced sauce and generally served at fairs and the like with little picks to ea the piece with. Here is a simple recipe that gives the right idea:

German Chocolate Cake, Black Forest Cake, Rye Bread, Barvarian Pretzels, German Potato Salad

Just Google German Food and several recipe sites come up for all kinds German food with recipes and reviews included

Just to echo what someone else said_ German chocolate cake (or brownies) is NOT a German food at all--the baker who created happened to have the last name "German"--lots of people make that mistake though, so no worries :lovestruc

Nothing more to add but now I am craving German food. Some of the best food on the planet, IMO. YUM!

I wonder if any of the kids got Norway, they could bring lutefisk

Seriously though, as mentioned before pretzels are probably a good choice.

If you have a World Market near you they hAve a ton of German candies and cookies.
Like the previous poster said I would go with Haribou Gummy Bears. They are in second grade and what second grader doesn't like gummy bears:yay: also it will be easier for your child to carry in and no clean up.

I would send in pretzels. They are iconic German food.

Yes! Aldi has pretzel crackers that are imported from Germany and they're wonderful!

My absolute favorite German food is wiener schnitzel, but it's very time consuming.
