Finally talked hubby into a wdw vaca, 0ct 3-10 but he would like to spend a day or so fishing. He plans on getting a fishing license and going somewhere off property...

Where is a good place not to, to far from wdw. Maybe an hour or so ride.

He doesn't want to go on a headboat,, just a few hrs w/ the kids.

Any help would b great.

Thanks

I'm not sure what age the kids are, but you can rent cane poles and fish from a stocked area at the Port Orleans resort.

Lake Apopka is great but you definitely want to catch and release - the water is polluted. Also, in Ocoee, there is a wonderful little lake with fish feeders to keep the fish around the dock and it has a great open area for kids to run and play and a gazebo and a really old house you can tour. We spent many many days there just walking around, having a picnic and playing. My dad used to take my oldest there to fish every week and loved it.

Both Lake Apopka and the lake in Ocoee (I think its called Starke Lake?) are about 15-20 min. north of Disney.. Just get on 429N and exit in Ocoee.

Head to downtown Kissimmee (about a 20-minute drive along Osceola Parkway) and there are several operations who operate from the Lake Toho Marina. We like Scenic Lake Tours for a good range of boat tours on the lake and fishing options. Look them up here: http://www.fishingchartersinc.com/
