need help from NYers (downtown Manhattan) new ? #7

Taking a bus to NYC in a couple of weeks and plan to see the sights downtown - Staten Island Ferry, WTC/Ground Zero. Is walking from the ferry terminal to the WTC site advisable or would motorized transportation be suited to this area?

I think it's totally walkable but I also walk 3 miles downtown to visit my family every other weekend. It could also be cold out which may make it more uncomfortable, in that case you could always catch the subway or hop in a cab.

I was concerned about sidewalks, as GoogleMaps doesn't guarantee sidewalks are available in all areas. The distance is plenty easy for us.

I am figuring on it being coool, possibly rainy, but the forecast doesn't go that far yet.

Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't given much thought as to where we are going to eat. DD wanted to try the PB & J place, Peanut Butter & Co., (saw it on Food Network or Travel Channel), but I don't think we will make it to that area.

Hi Berks county friend! It's totally walkable. I think Google maps is telling you that because the area right around the WTC is a little screwey right now. Lots and LOTS of construction.
