Hi!
Please don't think I'm crazy because my brother made me do this!!! I have some questions for those of you that are Florida residents and have DDE. My brother who is a single father lives very close to Disney World and takes his 9 year-old daughter to the resort character meals quite often. He and his daughter are here in Kentucky visiting for a couple of weeks and last night we were discussing Disney World. I just happened to mention the DDE to him and he had never heard of it. He and his daughter don't have AP's or Seasonal Passes so he is interested in purchasing it as a "Florida Resident". He asked me all these questions and having never had the DDE I have no idea so I knew if I asked here on the DIS you guys would know all the answers!!! Here goes...

1. The only way to get the card is by phone (407) 566-5858 or by mail at
Post Office Box 10000, Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830 correct?

2. Florida Resident price is $85 correct?

3. Does proof of residency have to be mailed in to someone or is the fact
that the card is being mailed to a Florida address suffice?

4. How long does it take to receive the card? He wants to go ahead and call
from here so he can get it ordered?

5. Is it valid for one year from the date order is processed?

Thanks so much for your help. :thumbsup2

They ask you for your FL Driver's License # as proof.

5. Is it valid for one year from the date order is processed?

It's usually a little over 1 year - like 13 months. Like a credit card, it expires at the END of the month instead of on a certain date. So if you order it now, for example, it probably will expire at the end of July 2007. They can tell him the exact expiration date whe he calls to order it.
Thanks so much for your help. :thumbsup2

Only posting what I know for a fact to be true. Hope it helps.

---when I ordered ours, I faxed it in. I don't have the fax number handy but it was on the application form I printed out from the Disney website.

3. Does proof of residency have to be mailed in to someone or is the fact

---As the previous poster said, they needed proof.

4. How long does it take to receive the card? He wants to go ahead and call

---They say two weeks, give or take. I think he can get a temp card by calling ahead & picking it up over at Epcot if necessary. I seem to recall it only taking about a week to receive it though.

1. I think mine was faxed. I was staying at one of the resorts and the concierge faxed it in.

2. Not sure about the price because it's gone up since we ordered it.

3 and 4. Can't remember.

5. SleepyatDVC is right. We received ours in August last year and it didn't expire until September of the following year.

I was never asked for proof of anything. I am a FL resident and also Seasonal Pass holder. I always thought their point was they could ask for proof when you presented the card to get your 20% off. Of course, they rarely ask for proof, but I thought I could order the card and just be prepared to show my ID or seasonal pass when I want my 20% off.

HTH! Yes, he MUST get the DDE!
