I've been trying to call Member Services but the wait times are so long and I waited for 40 minutes and I got disconnected! It automatically sent to the survey and hung up.

Here's my dilmemma:We have two contracts same use year (march). I'm trying put all our points from 2015 and 2016 into one of the contracts. They are telling me I can only transfer once per year and it can't be borrowed points. Does anyone know another way around this?

We are planning on a cruise for 2015 and we need as many points as possible. I asked this in the DCL forum, you can use your points after you book on cash. Does anyone know up until what time frameyou can do this?

Thanks in advance.

If your contracts are under the same member number--and with the same UY they probably are--there is no transfer needed.

If they are the same resort, they will function as one big contract for booking purposes for 11 month booking--if they are different resorts, then you can pool them at 7 months or book each home resort within the home resort period.

Transfers only happen when you are going from membership to membership, NOT contracts.

I own two memberships because I have two UY--to use together, I have to transfer if I want to pool for a single night...typically, I just book whole nights with one, and whole nights with the other.

So, if it is all one membership #, then you can combine, bank and borrow what you need for the cruise..in terms of convertin cash to points, it all depends on availability and I don't believe that its an automatic that a cash reservation can be converted to points.

Do you have two different member numbers? You should not if the contracts are in the same use year. Transfer is something done between two different member numbers and two separate use years (ones beginning in different months). Don't know your exact use year but the way you would join the points for a 2015 cruise is to borrow the 2016 points into the 2015 use year. That assumes the cruise will occurr after your 2015 use year actually begins. Moroever, you would not do that borrowing until you actually make the cruise reservation.

Have you considered renting out your points and paying cash for the cruise. I imagine you'd come out ahead.

Yes, I guess we have two different memberships but they have the same use years. I finally got through and I guess there is no option to borrow and then transfer, which is a bummer. I think the only other option is to rent out the points if we really wanted to ofset the cost.

You need to be careful because if you borrow points they then cannot be transferred

If you have two member numbers, you are blocked from doing what you want to do by the rule that you can neither transfer borrowed points nor borrow points that have been transferred.

If the contracts are in the same name(s), have the same use year and you have two member numbers, then something went wrong when you purchased the second one because it should have been connected to the first contract under the same member number. Did someone, e.g., the broker or you, forget to tell Disney before closing that you already had a contract in the same use year? I am not sure this can be fixed but you may want to contact member accounting and see if it can redo your member number and put the second contract into the member number of the first contract and eliminate the second member number.

In addition to the comments already made, members are allowed to transfer points from the current and next Use Year. Right now, you are in your March, 2014 Use Year so you should be allowed to transfer points this Use Year from one contract into the other - and - during the same phone call, transfer points from your March, 2015 Use Year between the same contracts.

It the cruise dates you want are after March, 2015 you would be able to use the points from your 2014 and 2015 Use Years. Points from March, 2016 could not be transferred or used at this time since those points cannot be transferred until March, 2015 and could not be borrowed anyway for a trip prior to March, 2016.

If you were told you could not transfer your March, 2015 points, I'd ask to speak with a supervisor - but MS is correct about your 2016 points at this time - and even there, only members with a February or March Use Year are able to transfer points from their 2015 use Year at this time since all other contracts are still in their 2013 Use Year.

Renting your points may be the best option. :)

Call back and ask for a supervisor and tell them what you want to do. Basically say you have 2 contracts and want to use the points to cruise and let them work from that end. Historically they have ben a LOT more lenient in this situation where it's simply their rule they have to be in a given contract. The other alternative is to rent the points, you'd end up better off anyway.
