Hi-- my DD4 is a horse/pony fanatic and we have a free day on the first day of our trip (Saturday). We get in very early and are staying at the POR. My question is-- what is the easiest way to get from POR to the Fort Wilderness pony rides-- can we go to the transportation center and get a boat-- does FW have a dock-- is this correct? We also have dinner ADRs at the Grand Floridian (1900) for 4:50. Can we take the boat back to the transportation center to get to the Grand Floridian?

We are also tossing the idea around about maybe? going after dinner too since the pony rides are open till dusk.

thanks for you advice-- I am quite clueless and this is our first time staying on property without a car!

I think from the TTC you would have to take a bus to FW. I'm not aware of a boat launch at TTC. When you go to GF you can just hop on the monorail at the TTC.

I'd recommend taking the Disney bus from your resort to the Magic Kingdom. From there, you can take a boat to Fort Wilderness and do the pony ride. My granddaughter did this a few years ago and it was a highlight for her (she had just turned five). Be warned that you will be the one leading the horse and you shouldn't wear open toed shoes.

After the pony ride, you can take the boat back to the Magic Kingdom and then another boat or the monorail to the Grand Floridian. If you choose the monorail, you will do an almost complete circuit and you can get off and tour the Contemporary and the Polynesian on your way (depending on how much time you have).

Also at the dock at Fort Wilderness is a decent beach (no swimming) but your four year old sure the heck can run around quite a bit.
