I haven't been to Disneyland in over 12 years, as we have been WDW folks. I am trying to plan a quick trip to Disneyland (driving from Colorado). I am trying to be frugal, but still have a wonderful time. I need help in finding a hotel that well, is cheap but not yucky. I've been looking at priceline and tripadvisor and am overwhelmed. Can someone help enlighting me on good inexpensive hotels? And since I am planning on being there Aug 6-12 (3-4 days, sometime in that time frame), a good plan of attack for experiencing it.
Thanks!!!

For how many people? What are your priorities?

We personally love the Candy Cane Inn. Free parking, free basic breakfast, free shuttle, but also within easy walking distance.

Many people here love HOJO as well, stayed there a number of years ago and it was nice but we prefer CCI. I believe they also have free parking. If you're driving, that makes a HUGE difference as many hotels charge $10 and up per night for parking at the hotel.

We love Desert Inn and Suites. It is a very very easy walk across the street. They have a suite with 4 queens and rates are pretty good. It is a basic motel, but clean and friendly staff and the short walk after a long day at the park is wonderful. Denny's is right next door if you want a heavier breakfast than what the hotel offers.

We've stayed at HoJo's with 7 of us so booked two rooms and that was cheap and fine. The pool was great. I think we used some entertainment rate as well as an annual pass rate. I can't really remember though. It was a fairly long walk for us with 4 kids ranging from 9 - 3 years old. I would like to stay a little closer. We've also stayed at the Fairfield Inn Marriott. It was a little closer and we had no problems there and would stay again. Have fun planning your trip. Neither of our hotels supplied a breakfast though

Cheap, clean, and right across the street? you want Desert Inn & Suites. -not much of a breakfast though, but if you're driving, you can pack groceries. The pool is enclosed in a chlorine filled room which I find unbreathable, but we don't come to DL to swim. :)

It is our favorite when we are trying to be frugile.
