I am looking to get a medical bracelet, but a specific type. I hate the metal ones and the ones with the gaudy tags on them...I don't want to broadcast this to the world. I saw a picture of a bracelet this girl uses as her medical id and I think it's great since it'll pretty much go with anything and is pretty inconspicuous. Can anyone help me locate this or something similar?

There is a reason everyone has those metal medical tags, in an emergency they are easily identified. Medical personnel may easily miss a 'homemade" bracelet. You can get one that goes on a chain around your neck that you can wear under your clothing.

Do you have a bigger picture?

I'm aware of why they are used. I prefer not to use a chain as I have an infant who likes to grab at any necklace I wear and unless I'm wearing a turtleneck, nothing I own will completely cover it from her eyes. Anyway, opinions on what type of bracelet or other id I should get aside (as I'm sure there are many), I'm just asking for help on the kind I listed about. Thanks. :)

Do you have a bigger picture?

Unfortunately I don't. I cropped that one just to protect the person's identity, but that's the actual size from the photo itself. :( I could resize it to make it larger, but it would just make it blurry.

Not quite what I'm looking for...seems like this one was more of a simple bangle. There's a greenish area on the left side (she's almost covering it) where I assume her info is. But I do appreciate the link. :)

if you want one that looks like a regular bracelet, try laurenshope.com. however, these are not recommended by medical professionals, as bracelets that just look like bracelets, such as with beads, etc., are easily overlooked by emergency medical personnel (yes, i got that straight from the mouth of an EMT). i know medical alert bracelets are ugly, i wear one myself, but i see it as a necessity.

I have a cousin and a couple friends who are EMTs who said they are so used to seeing nontraditional bracelets and the like (and that they're becoming so common) that they automatically check it all just in case. Anyway, thanks for the link...I checked that one and a few others out the last couple days, none have what I showed in the picture. I'll obviously get something else if need be, I was just hoping to find what I actually showed. Thanks.

There are some pretty ones on etsy.com, but like pp mentioned, I think they may not stand out enough as a medical ID bracelet.

This is true, medical personnel are taught to look for many types of ID - necklaces, bracelets, shoe tags to name a few. Out of curiosity I looked at the Hope Paige designs that PP listed, and now I want to order more for me and by best friend, some of them are so nice and they are different.
I currently have one that is functional but not pretty but it gets the job done and isn't too noticeable when worn. Its a simple metal stretch band similar to a watch band with a solid portion with the red caduceus on it, the solid piece opens to allow you to put a list in it with any medical info in it you might want, typed in 8 font and fan folded I have full ID info, allergies, current meds, and brief medical history in it. Its probably the most complete medical ID that I have used and when I travel alone I wear it. But for trips when someone is with me and knows the info, I think I will order one of the cuter ones I saw online.

My aunt (who is diabetic) lost her medic alert bracelet, and she got nervous that while it was lost she'd need emergency treatment, and the EMTS wouldn't know that she was diabetic, so she solved the problem in a way that is undeniable to any future EMT: She has the word DIABETIC with scrolls and flowers around it tatooed on the inside of her left wrist. :lmao: It's OBVIOUS and no emt will miss it when they try to take a pulse. But at the same time, it's kind of pretty.

Go to FIDDLEDEE ID's.
I love them! My daughter has anaphylaxis to peanuts - this has been wonderful. You can add beads and charms. I have always gotten my order very quickly, and YOU make the tag - so I was able to have my phone number engraved on her tag so they can call me if she has a problem.
Hope this helps...

There are some nice links here for pretty medical id alert braclets, etc.
My DD wears one a lot of the time and she would like some of the ones here now that she is getting older.
Thanks for sharing them.

We've always been told, that you don't want to make them too inconspicuous. Even though emergency professionals are trained to look for them, others first responding or calling emergency services might not. If this information is seen, it can make a difference giving that information to responders.

Thanks for the links & responses guys. I truly appreciate it. Most is what I've already seen but it's helpful to look again. I typically don't wear metal or bead bracelets (or those types of watches) to begin with as they tend to irritate my skin. I had a friend make me a beaded bracelet that included a charm with a picture of my late grandfather a few years back. Love it, beautiful and sentimental bracelet, but it irritates my skin like crazy so I only wore it a few times. Not like an allergy...but the constant rubbing (even of smooth metal or smooth rounded beads) really irritates it. Other types bother my skin as well (such as leather). I guess that's partly why I was looking for one like I pictured, since it was a simple bangle and I've been able to wear those without any trouble. Thanks all, I really appreciate the help!! :)

My DD has an SOS Talisman bracelet. Inside the waterproof capsule is a waterproof paper strip upon which are written her details. This means that any responders have immediate access to her information rather than having to contact a number. It also means that, when we go on holiday, we insert a new strip which shows our holiday address with her details so that if anything should happen whilst we are apart, they can still reach us if our mobiles don't work.

She has hers on a red velcro band, but I have mine on a stainless steel chain bracelet.

Well worth the money.

Forgot to add; I bought one for my father as, when he fell ill recently, he was taken to hospital and I had to stay at home to look after my disabled mother. He was unable to provide details for the hospital as his memory is beginning to go a bit and it was only when I got there that they could get his records written up properly. Now he has all his details, contact numbers and next of kin along with his past medical history written on his alert paper strip in the capsule.

I've seen images on google like that (specifically on type 1 diabetics)...not sure I'd go THAT far. lol Though I understand why a type 1 would do it.

Yes, she (and my Mom and their other sister) are all type 1 diabetics.
