My DD10 has been going through shoe sizes like crazy. Since summer she has grown 2 sizes! She is in a 3 right now, i know little but a big jump.

Last night she was asking for shoes "that look like slippers but aren't, you wear them outside but they have the fuzzy stuff inside like boots". I immediately thought of the croc mammoths but she said no, real shoes.

I saw a couple of Merrel brand on zappos but they are $50. I don't even know what to call these kind of shoes to search. Any ideas???

Any knock off brands?

My girls wanted these too and we got them at target....they have womens and girls (the women's 6 fit my girls who are kids sizes 2 and 3). The original ones are UGGS but I wasn't spending that kind of money. Yes, they are actually slippers but the kids wear them to school

Not sure where you are, but the slippers in the link above are OUT here for the tweens...as my dd would say they are soooo last year LOL :rotfl: The cool thing for tweens and teens are the fur lined suede moccassins.

My DD (who is younger) has a pr. of Mary Janes with a sherpa lining -- very comfy, but I suspect that this may not be what she's looking for. Hers are not quite this chunky, but it's a similar style:

Could she be talking about the UGG Dakota? It's a moccasin-style that comes in a lot of colors: http://www.uggaustralia.com/ProductDetails.aspx?gID=w&productID=5612&model=Dakota

If she wants Moccasin-type shoes, here's a tip: you can buy actual leather slipper moccasins and take them to a shoe-repair tech to have outdoor soles added to them for around $20.

PS: I hear that LLBean is having a record year this year because their duck shoes have suddenly become trendy on college campuses. They ARE warm, but a more practical fashion-neutral shoe I've never known. You can get these with or without the sherpa lining -- without it, it now comes in funky color combos. http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/57117?feat=19068-ppxs&dds=y

I just got some Arizona ones at JC Penney for DS (turning 8 on Saturday)...they look pretty "boy" though. Maybe try LL Bean?

Edited to add: they were originally $25 on clearance for $12.99.

The tween girls in our area are wearing the fur lined moccasins to school. I have some of these that are UGGS that I wear as slippers, but apparently, it is very cool to wear them to school also. Some girls that I know bought theirs at Target.

LOL! I see you are in NY. We are in PA and are always behind so I doubt she'll think they are "out". I was a bit concerned with the open back though with the snow.

I saw these that look similar to the ugg ones, http://www.target.com/Chaia-Suede-Moccasin-Slippers-Tan/dp/B000F8F8M2/ref=sc_qi_detaillink

I refuse to pay for UGGS she may outgrow in 2 months.

LOL! I was thinking the same thing....the slide on ones are outrageously popular here, too! Guess we're not in the "cool group"! LOL!

The moccasins are juuuust starting to catch on here.....they are really cute, too! I still vote for Target though, whichever style you choose!

Ya us Long Islanders always have to be ahead of the trends....great for the pocketbook  I bought dd her fur mocs from Target, got them on a Friday and by Monday the stitching around the front of the foot had completely unraveled and the shoe was totally apart. I ended up returning them and getting her a pair at Kohls that looked the same & they have held up well. "Santa" is bringing the Ugg Dakotas for her but once the snow comes I'm sure we will be back to standard Uggs.

I was excited to see someone else needing help finding shoes but then I saw your dd needs small sizes. lol My 7 year old is in a 3.5 but my problem child needing shoes is 12 and needs a woman's 11. She wants boots but after reading the whole thread may need to find her some of the mocassin things IF I can find them in an 11. Why do these kids grow so fast?? LOL

I wore an 11 at age 12 so I know it's tough. Skechers makes them in an 11.. :) I don't have the suede ones, but I have cable sweater material ones with the fuzzy around the ankle.

Thanks for that info. I will check into them next week as this weekend will be spent with my youngest doing Punt, Pass, and Kick in Cincinnati. Older kids don't get to go as the budget just does have an extra $84 per kid per ticket.
