Prior to renting any villa I would ask myself what we wanted in any place that we want to stay in. We have stayed in villa's everytime we have been to Florida - in fact we are out here now in a fantastic 5 bed/4 bath and the location of this one is one of the best we have stayed in.
We have a list of 'must haves' and these include
Free international phone calls
Free wi-fi
Games room
South facing pool that is not overlooked - preferably looking out onto a conservation area or lake, or something similar
When looking at the photos of the villa we always look at the poool first. If they only have pics that look at the pool with the villa in the background, or from high looking down onto the pool, we assume that there is something in the background that the owners don't want us to see so we dismiss it.
There is that much choice out there at the moment that you won't need to compromise on anything.
