Need some help. I have a June UY. I banked the remaining 75 points of my 2014 UY. We are planning on our next trip in Feb 2016. Will I be able to bank 2015 points with my 2014 points. Also, will I be able to use my 2016 points and borrow into 2017? We are planning a large family vacation to Saratoga Springs and looking at a grand villa the second week of February. I was mainly concerned if my 2014 borrowed points will still be good then or will I lose them before then? Also if I can borrow 2017. I have 150 point contract and will need close to 375+ points to make this work. I know I can't book for quite some time, just want to know in advance how the points work. Sorry if this sounds confusing.

Thanks in advance!!

I'm not sure I'm completely following but I think everything your asking about is relating to what points you can use with your June UY for the Feb 2016 trip, yes?

For that trip you will still be in your 2015 UY (June 1, 2015 to May 31, 2016). Points that you can use for that trip will be the 2014 points you banked, any current 2015 points and you will be able to borrow any 2016 points. You do not want to bank the 2015 points because the trip is in that UY. But this means that you also can't borrow the 2017 points. However if your contract is 150 points and you banked 75 points then you will have up to 375 points available to use (75 banked 2014 points, 150 current 2015 points and borrow 150 2016 points). If you need more you can purchase up to 24 one time use points but that can only be done at the 7 month booking window. Otherwise you would need to get a transfer of points.

For future reference, points can only be banked one time. If they are not used in the UY you have banked them into they would expire but you wouldn't have to worry about that this time.

I am fairly new at DVC as things go but you don't have 2014 yet with a June use year until June 1, 2014 so you have banked 2013 points into your 2014 year and they must be used between June 1, 2014 and June 1 2015. Points cannot be banked more than once. So you won't be able to keep moving them.
Your 2014 points (good from June 1 2014 to June 1 2015) can be banked to June 1, 2015-June 1, 2016 so those points will be able to be used for travel in Feb 2016. So you will be able to use your 150 points from 2014 plus 150 points from 2015 (June 1, 2015-June 1,2016) plus you should be able to borrow from 2016 (June 1,2016-June 1,2017) the 75 points you need to make it work.
You may wish to look at renting out your banked points for travel between June 1, 2014-June 1, 2015) and then using that money towards your trip in 2016.
Like I said I am fairly new so I could stand corrected but that is my understanding of how the points and use year works.

Yes, you understood what I was asking and your answer was perfect. I can book our trip 11 months out, so that would allow me to use the 75 banked, plus my 2015 points, and borrow 2016.

No, you don't use the points when you book; you use them when you stay. The booking timeline has nothing to do with your use year or allocated points.

What I meant was if I book in May of 2015 (right before we lose our banked points) for our Feb 2016 trip, that would allow me to use 2014 banked points, 2025 points, and borrow 2016. Is that correct?

Yes, that is what you can do. When you call or go online to book has nothing to do with which points are used. What points are used are dependent on when the stay is and that is what you must have valid points for.

So for Feb 2015 you can book in March of 2014 - as any one no matter what UY they have could do at their home resort - and with your June UY you can use banked 2014 points, 2015 points and also borrow any 2016 points you need.

But - as someone pointed out - are you certain you banked 2014 points into your 2015 UY or was it really 2013 points banked into your 2014 UY? AFAIK you can't bank points from a UY until that UY has started so that you wouldn't have been able to bank your 2014 points until June 1, 2014.

You can not use those 75 points. If they are your 2014 points, you have already borrowed them. If they are your 2013 points (because you should receive points in June, 2014), then they will not be good for a trip in 2016.

Also. You can never have more than 3 years worth of points. So if you owned 100, you could never have (without buying, renting, etc) more than 300 points.

According to the OP they banked the 2014 points. There were not borrowed. Again - if they truly are banked 2014 points from a June UY then they would be valid for the Feb 2016 stay. But if they are actually 2013 points banked into their 2014 UY then they will expire May 31, 2015 unless they are used for a stay prior to that date.

Can you bank points that aren't available?

Points have to be USED, not just booked, by the end of your use year. If your use year begins in June 2013, that's your "2013" use year, and those are the only points you have available right now. They have to be USED by 5/31/2014. If you banked them, they have to be used between 6/1/2014 and 5/31/2015.

If you actually banked 2014 points (which aren't even available to you yet), then they would have to be used between 6/1/2015 and 5/13/2016. But I don't believe it's possible to bank those points yet.

Here is an easy way to see if you will have enough points. Pick the date that you want to vacation. Determine which UY that the date is in. You can bank from the prior UY and/or borrow from the next UY.

The OP wants to vacation Feb 2016 which is in their 2015 UY. They can use 2014 banked points or 2016 borrowed points.

I borrowed into 2014 points. Once I get my 2014 points, I will have 75. We want to bank those points. I stated it wrong in saying I banked them.

Points can only be banked or borrowed once per point.
You can't bank borrowed points if that's what you are saying.

So, you BORROWED 75 points from 2014 into 2013? So, you'll only have 75 points when your 2014 allocation is available in June? And you plan to BANK those into 2015, so you can use them on your Feb-2016 reservation (2015 use year)?

If that's accurate, then, yes, your plan will work.
