I am planning (late as always) for Church school tomorrow and was hoping to do a lesson I had done years ago...it involves making meringue cookies and each ingrediant has a story of how it ties to Easter and the crucifiction...vinegar like they put on a cloth when He said he was thirsty...salt that they ?rubbed in His wounds...then you put the cookies in the oven (tomb) and seal it with tape and come back next day to find that the cookies are hollow - empty like the tomb...

...BUT i cannot find the recipe with the story...

,,,anyone ever seen it, have it, know where I can find it?

Is this it???

Ingredients/Supplies:
1 cup whole pecans
1 tsp vinegar
3 egg whites
pinch of salt
1 cup sugar
zipper bag
wooden spoon
tape
Bible
mixing bowl
mixer
wax paper
cookie sheet

Preheat oven to 300.
Place pecans in zipper bag and beat them with the wooden spoon to break into small pieces. After Jesus was arrested, the Roman soldiers beat him. Read John 19:1-3.
Put 1 tsp vinegar into a mixing bowl. Jesus was given vinegar to drink. Read John 19:28-30.
Add egg whites to vinegar. Eggs represent life. Jesus gave his life to give us life. Read John 10:10-11.
Add a pinch of salt to the bowl. This represents the salty tears shed by Jesus' followers and the bitterness of our own sin. Read Luke 23:27.
Add 1 cup of sugar. The sweetest part of the Easter story is that Jesus died because he loves us. He wants us to know this and that we belong to him. Read Psalm 34:8 and John 3:16.
Beat with a mixer on high speed for 12-15 minutes until stiff peaks are formed. The color white represents the purity in God's eyes of those whose sins have been cleansed. Read Isaiah 1:18 and John 3:1-3.
Fold in broken nuts. Drop by teaspoon onto a cookie sheet covered with wax paper. Each mound represents the rocky tomb where Jesus' body was laid. Read Matthew 27:57-60.
Put the cookie sheet in the oven, close the door, and turn the oven OFF. Seal the oven door with tape. Jesus' followers were in despair when the tomb was sealed. Read Matthew 27:65-66 and John 16:20-22. Leave the cookies in the oven overnight, and take them out the next day. The cookies will be hollow. Jesus' followers were amazed to find the tomb open and empty. Read Matthew 28:1-9.

Here's one I found called Resurrection Rolls.
1 Pkg. refrigerated crescent roll dough
melted butter
large marshmallows
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tbsp. sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Give each child a triangle of crescent roll and amarshmallow. Explain that the roll represents the cloth that Jesus' body was wrapped in and the marshmallow represents Jesus. Have each child dip the marshmallow in melted butter, sybolic of the embalming oils.
Then dip the marshmallow in the cinnamon and sugar, representing the spices used to anoint Jesus' body. Wrap the coated marshmallow tightly in the crescent roll (not like a typical crescent roll but bring the sides up and seal the marshmallow inside). This represents the wrapping of Jesus' body after his death.
Place on an ungreased cookie wheet and place in over (tomb) for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from oven and cool slightly. Whean the rolls are cooled, children can poen their rolls (cloths) and discover that Jeus is no longer there. He is risen! (If you seal the crescent rolls well, the marshmallow will emlt and the roll will be puffed up but empty.)

thanks for posting this. I had the empty tomb cookie recipe, but not the resurrection rolls. We can actually get those baked and eaten in one lesson time! Neat ideas.
