Need help decidingo n a phone

i want to get a new phone for my son but wandering which is better he is in 8th grade should I get an ipphone smart phone or Droid or windows don't know anything about these phones so any input is much appreciated. He loves having the apps on his Ipod touch do these phones have those? Who has the better deals with plans and such he mostly texts and facebooks and such he talks on the phone very little please help

If want stick to a smartphone than I would andriod type phone. They have more choice available. Plus you download apps from a lot places. I would stay away from Windows 7 right now. They do not have many apps out now.

Verizon is coming with iphone in 2011.

Do understand that if does get smartphone that does not come with a unlimted data plan. I know Att iphone does not.

If son is tech savy he could get away with having a dumbphone that can do a lot things smartphone can do.

I have LG Prime it can do a lot stuff a smartphone can do but have be tech savy to do it.

Unpopular option is also get a unlocked and unbranded phone to.

Stay away from Verizon (unless you are unfortunate enough to only get service at your house through them, like me) because they have the most expensive plans.

yea we are with Verizion right now and our bill is through the roof and we do not have interenet it is crazy

Another vote against Verizon. HORRIBLE. I ordered a Droidx (none in store), didn't like it, returned it within 48 hours of receiving it. I had to pay a big restocking fee and now they are billing me almost $200 saying I have to pay for the plan starting with the day of my order (I had no phone in my hands for weeks!) until it was returned. CROOKS!!!!!!

If he's used to an itouch he'd probably like an iphone better.

We have the Talk & Text with ulimited m2m (any provider), unlimited text, and 700 minutes for $137/month. I didn't think that is bad, is it? We've got great coverage too. I was thinkin of going to a DroidX but not sure I want to pay and extra $400/year for DH & I to get the data plans. I feel like I'd be giving in to peer pressure cuz everyone else is doing it! But I REALLY want it...

I bought my dd the Iphone4 for Christmas. The plan was to get her the new Ipod touch for Christmas and a cell phone for her birthday in March. It made more sense and was a great deal cheaper to go with the Iphone. She has had her current Touch for over 2 years and been very careful with it, so I know she will take care of the phone.

I know what mean. I feel like peer pressure not having a iphone or driod.

Now I might get a andriod phone but it will be unbrand and unlocked from amazon.

I might until come out with all the new andriod tablets next year.

The one I can't make my mind about is android tablet or ipod touch. I leaning towards the andriod tablets.

We have Sprint and the plans are more reasonably priced. So far pleased with the service. They also offer discounts. For example, there was a 10% or 20% discount off the monthly bill for the life of the contract for being a member of a credit union.

I just priced out a Verizon plan and it's about $8 more than my AT&T plan for my iPhone. I am thinking about jumping ship to Verizon when they come out with their iPhone next month because AT&T's connectivity is crappy. I am without voice and text at Wrigley Field, Camp Randall (UW-Football) and WDW when it's relaly busy (like when I go next week). I do understand that AT&T's major problem is being slammed by all the iPhones and that Verizon might have the same problem as everyone else jumps ship to them.

On Verison we have talk and text with 1400 min 3 phone lines and we pay over $160 a month which I thik is crazy being my husband doesn't text AT ALL and my son barely talks he does most testing I do a little of both but not really much of either. I am so confused don't know what to d I am under contract my self until June but would really like to go ahead and get my son set up

DH, DD16, me and my MIL all share 700 minutes a month from Verizon and we NEVER go over it. Two of us have Smartphones, but adding DD16 and my MIL only made our bill go up $20 a month. (total. $10 each.)

I believe even with the two smart phones our plan is still around $150 a month for four people.

Yes. Did you check out the AT&T website? You can read about all their plans there.

You should probably get unlimited texting for your son's phone as kids his age are big on texting and you don't want a surprise bill for going over your message limit.

You're on Verizon? Why not just wait for the iPhone to come out on Verizon? It's supposed to be released early next year.

Be aware that you will have to add an additional $30 monthly to your bill to cover unlimited web access for whichever smartphone you choose.

We get a 20% discount through DH's work.
