Need help deciding

I am trying to decide on 2 options and since I have never been to Disney World I need your expert opinions.

Group - 6 people - 4 adults, 2 children (16 & 9)

Would you go with Caribbean Beach Resort with free dining in 2 standard rooms or Pop Century with no dining in 2 standard rooms? Why would you choose the one over the other?

Tough call, Jennifer! Since lots of this depends on personal preferences. Is this a "once in a lifetime trip"? Will you plan to do lots of sit down (table service) meals whether you have a dining plan or not? The dining plan is a LOT of food, so if you wouldn't typically eat that much food in a day, getting a meal plan might not be the best fit, or discount.

• Pop Century pros: Some of the least expensive rooms, only one bus stop and busses don't share with other resorts, centrally located
• Pop Century cons: rooms are quite small, have only double beds and a single sink
• Caribbean Beach pros: Rooms are a bit larger, Queen beds & also a small murphy bed that would likely work for the 9 year old, if needed & double sink vanity. Theming is much more subdued & more adult, grounds are lush and tropical
• Caribbean Beach cons: Resort is very large and spread out & there are 5 internal bus stops, making for longer rides to the park (usually), the check in and check out area is in a separate building from the food court and gift shop area, which makes it a little less convenient to get to and from

CBR is a moderate and free dining.
Pop is a sort of value with no free dining.
Did I read that right?
I would pick CBR with dining.

One other consideration with CBR - If i am not mistaken, the only rooms that were included in the free dining are the Pirate rooms- I believe they are positioned quite a ways away from the main building and I am not sure that they have the murphy bed. If this is the case - you should also look at the math to see if standard rooms at this resort with a room only discount might be a better price. Disney no longer needs the free dining promo to fill their resorts so they are forcing folks to buy tickets they might not need (park hopper) as well as offering only the pricier rooms at these resorts.

Good luck with free dining. I called. They had nothing for CBR or POR for nov and December or even October first. Only deluxe

Thanks all for the advice. Was able to book the CBR with free dining for our trip (I had it on hold before asking the question). =) I like the idea of not worrying about cost of food and being able to splurge a little bit with character meals and such.

This will be our first trip (hopefully not our last) and I have been wanting to go to Disney World for about 10 years. LOL

I am soooo excited and can't wait to get to planning everything.

You made the right call. Using the dining plan is fun and makes it so you don't worry about the mounting cost of food all week. it just requires that you plan a bit more to have a table service locked in for each day and make sure you are where you need to be since most charge for no-shows now.
