We are a family of 5 (three girls age 10 and under), we are trying to decide where to stay. We want to stay on-site, and although we want a nice hotel, we can't justify the Grand Floridian. Can you recommend a place to stay? We're looking at Caribbean Beach Resort, Coronado Springs Resort, Dixie Landings Resort or Port Orleans Resort. Please give us some input, maybe pros/cons or just suggestions. We NEED some help from the experts :)

Is one of your daughters under the age of three? If not, then I'm pretty sure the only resort you can stay in of the ones you mentioned is Port Orleans. Port Orleans Riverside is currently the only one open, Port Orleans French Quarter (the old Dixie Landings I think) is being refurbished. The Port Orleans have trundle beds for the 5th person. The other moderates only sleep four plus 1 under three.

Oops, guess I should have mentioned that my parents are going and will get a room too, so one of my girls could stay with them if needed. Can you suggest a place to stay in that price range? Is Port Orleans Riverside nice?

Wilderness Lodge! Wilderness Lodge! Wilderness Lodge!
You can get a deluxe resort without paying a really high deluxe rate! Mousesavers.com reports rates as low as $109/night, and it is a WONDERFUL resort! It hasNorthwest theming that transports you to a Yosemite style lodge not to mention the proximity and easy access to MK!

Wilderness Lodge it is then! I'll check Mousesavers for a good price...seems too good to be true, but I'll give it a try. Thank you so much for your help!

I'm showing Wilderness Lodge at $224 on Mousesavers, where the "moderates" are $114. I like the under $200 price range, can you make a suggestion?

We've stayed at two different deluxes, the Poly and Beach Club, and one moderate-Port Orleans Riverside(formerly Dixie Landings). I can honestly say that I liked Port Orleans Riverside just as much as the deluxes. It has beautiful grounds and a great food court which is nice for the younger kids. We loved the boat ride to Downtown Disney and found the bus transportation to the resorts to be very good. The pool was a lot of fun but we used the quiet pool by the Oak Harbor mansion building most of the time because it was a very nice pool. We paid about $84 a night for the moderate with a MouseSavers code versus $189-$199 a night for the deluxe resorts with a code. We usually go in July which is value season for the deluxes. The only way I would go back to a deluxe now would be for the convenience of the monorail.

We stayed twice at Riverside (when it was Dixie Landings) with our 3 kids- this was before we bought our DVC points. You will love it, it is a really beautiful resort- request the Magnolia Bend Mansion side- not the Alligator Bayou side- it is prettier over there (imho!!) Magnolia Building was the nicest!
