Hi everyone! :)

Well, me and wife will be going to Disney World and may also try to squeeze a Disney cruise in.

The main question I have is - how long is too long to stay at Disney World?

My options are are the following:

1. Stay at Disney World from 5-3 to 5-10 2008 and then take the 4 day cruise starting on 5-11

or

2. Stay at Disney World from 5-3 to 5-14 2008 and then take a 3 day cruise starting on the 15th.

With option 2, we would be staying at Disney World for like 12 nights  . I wonder if we would run out of things to do under this scenario? On the other hand, after viewing the DW DVD, it looks like they have added so many things since the last time I went (1995).

For accomodations, we would stay at the Yacht Club for several nights and then probably move over to the Grand Floridian for a few nights. What do you think of this idea staying at two places instead of just one?

About us: Active couple in our 40s with no kids from So Cali. Plan on going to Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Park, The Two Water Parks, MGM, Downtown Dis and also plan on riding those little speed boats on "that big lake" near MK.

Any advice would help. Thanks a bunch!

DH and I went for 6 days on our honeymoon, and it didn't seem like nearly long enough! As adults, there are so many things to take, in such as the resorts, that you just can't fit in on a short trip.

Having 12 days would allow you to take in everything at a leisurely pace while still having time to go back and see things you enjoyed a second time as well as enjoying some time at your own resort. If you enjoy taking in architecture or landscape, it is well worth it to schedule some time to check out the other resorts on property. Many of the resorts also have great restuarants or activities unique to each of them(such as the Hoop Dee Doo Review at Fort Wilderness, Beaches and Cream at The Beach Club, Ohana Luau at the Polynesian, or the Boardwalk area at The Boardwalk).

Have you ever been to Disney before? This would also affect how long you might want to stay. For me, there is no such thing as Disney overload! :cheer2: (but others may not agree!)

Have you picked up The Unofficial Guide or checked out AllEars.net? They provide great overviews of things to do all over Disney property including Downtown Disney, the resorts, and Wide World of Sports.

Best of luck! No matter what you decide, you will have a wonderful time! :)

First of all, you'll never run out of things to do. However, I would go for option #1. I like to leave myself hungry for more, if you know what I mean. DW & I did scenario #1 for our 25th anniversary & it was great. We're about your same age. The pool at the Yacht Club is really nice. We stayed at Beach Club (they share the same pool facility) & enjoyed the pool every day.

We did our first cruise a few years ago, it was a Disney cruise, and we stayed in WDW night before leaving to gain access to Disney Transportation to port and believe me, we were glad we did the 7 night cruise, first few days takes getting used to and then the fun began. Would hate to do a 3 dayer and just get the hang of the ship and all and be back in port.

We finished up our cruise with 3 nights back in WDW, to us it was plenty, one night before cruise, then 7 night cruise and then 3 nights at WDW, total of 11 to 12 days. No matter how you do it, it's all good but the cruise, all inclusive, is to die for and 3 days isn't enough, Castaway Cay is a day in itself and probably the best stop on the whole cruise, other ports we stopped at were so-so, personally, I'll never get off the ship in any port, all the free things, food etc and things to do are on the ship.

Thanks for the help everyone.

At this point I am leaning towards option 2 - more time in the parks and less time on the boat. I have not been to Disneyworld in sooo long, that there will be much to do.

My wife loves swimming and the water parks will prolly be repeat areas.

The cruise will give her a taste of cruising and thats why I definetly included a cruise on this trip. I myself have been on many cruises when I was single.(oh, the memories...hehe) I do understand that 3 days is just enough time to get your bearings. I wish they had a 4 day cruise that starts mid-week but they dont.

If all goes well, then we will take some more lenghty and exotic cruises in the future. Of course, for me, Disney will always have a place in my heart and I remember when I was a kid the BIG vacation of the year was going to Disneyland. SO, trips back to Disneyworld will continue.

The more days you have at WDW, the more you can take your time and enjoy your resort as well without feeling like you have to rush...and isn't that what vacation is all about????

stay as long as you can, but seriously we allow 1 day per park we visit, so we do 3 days at disney, MK, MGM and AK
we take in all of Florida
