Need Help Choosing FP+

We will be at MK the first week of March pre and post cruise. We have a couple park days either side of the cruise. We will have park hoppers. We used to tour the MK as die hard RD, using legacy FP system only(never stood in a line that wasn't FP), afternoon break and then back to stay until the park kicked us out.

We found in the evenings(with park closures around midnight, and EMH) that the standby lines were much shorter, most of the time walk on for some of our favorites, Buzz, Thunder Mountain, Barnstormer, etc.

My question is this, my DD's (7 & 9) want to see "talking Mickey", Rapunzel, of course Thunder Mountain, etc. The 2 days we will be at MK, one day it closes at midnight, the next it has evening hours until 1am. The crowd calendar predicts crowd level at 4 & 5. Should I expect the same to hold true at night that the lines will be much shorter, esp. for the characters I mentioned or should I use a FP+ on those. I would rather not use the FP+ on the characters, Buzz and Thunder Mountain if we can just ride them with little or no wait late in the evening. The do not like space mountain and splash will be closed when we are there. I also saw the priority list that mesaboy2 posted which was helpful but again if we are going to be there late and BTMR won't have long lines at 12:00am, I'd rather wait until then to ride and not use a FP+

Help me make the best use of my 3 lousy FP+. This planning is driving me nuts and I just don't know what to do :crazy2:

Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions!

My thought is that we should not have to guess which attractions will or won't actually need a FP
at what time of day weeks before we are there.

But, now we do.

There's THIS.

Agreed, This will be our last trip unless things change drastically. For us(and everyone else) to spend the kind of money we do to go to Disney, we should be able to do it as we want to on the fly and not months in advance.

At least I'm fortunate that we have been SEVERAL times over the past years so we did get to experience it the way we wanted to and had fun doing so.

Now I guess as sad as it makes me, it's time to move on from Disney and try something new. With that being said, because I'm truly viewing this as my DD's last trip, I want to make sure we make the most of a bad situation which is why I need help with the FP+.

See the green link in my signature for my suggestions.

I did see that and found it valuable, but what I'm wondering is, should I use a FP+ on Big Thunder during the day/early evening, if we plan to stay until the park closes and can ride it then with virtually little or now wait, which is what historically we have found to be the case late at night and during extra evening hours.

I would say no. But the same thing happens to pretty much all attractions late at night, so it's still a question of which attractions make the most sense to use FP+ on.

Let me ask this: what would you rather use FP+ on and why?

I'm in the same boat. Sorry can't offer advice.

When we pulled FPs it was based on what was happening right now vs the return times....

"BTMRR has a (pretty close) return time and HM only has a 20 min wait. Let's pull some FPs and by the time we are done with HM we can skip over to BTMRR."

But now that's not how we are able
To do it. Grrrrrr

I'm not sure....I guess we could use them on the ones I mentioned and do them earlier in the day and then it will just be a bonus if they get to ride them later at night???
Or, should we do rope drop at MK in the am, then hop to a different park and use the FP+, and then return to MK for PM? We will have a car so transportation isn't a big deal but still a lot of time involved leaving etc.

Yeah, that's a lot of back-and-forth in a day so I wouldn't advocate that either.

Maybe use the FP+ on the ones you know you want to do and then save the rest for late at night. All this pre-planning attractions that FP+ encourages is just crazy in my opinion.

Have a great trip!
