I have read all the information on this site and am still confused. We are thinking about Arusha Savannah room 1572-1584. Has anyone stayed there and is the first floor the best choice. We want to see the giraffes, peliguns and such. Our planning days are numbered, please help

I prefer the higher levels so you can see farther and more. The Savannah rooms are great, best when you don't pay for it and get the upgrade.

I'm not sure how familiar you are with AKL but I don't believe these room #'s even exist! The only rooms on the first floor that I see on my map are in the furthest wings around the pool area. As was stated above I think the higher floors would offer a better view. We were on the 4th floor and it suited us just fine.

If you are meaning 1472 - 1484 then yes, these are in one of the wings I was talking about near the pool. However, I'm not sure if they actually face the savannah or the pool.

I will try to explain how the room #'s work and hopefully this will help you to decide. Speaking strictly about the savannah view rooms in the Kudu and Zebra Trail, since that is what you seem to be interested in, the first # is the floor and these range from the 2nd to the 5th. The second # is the section: "2" being the first 3 'buildings', "3" the last 4 of Kudu Trail, "4" - the first 3 'bldgs' and "5" - the last 4 of Zebra Trail. The last two #'s are the exact location not sure what even or odds mean. You could also be on the Ostrich Trail which is the front wing overlooking the parking lot with the back facing the Sunset Savannah. These rooms are on the 3rd - 5th floors with a "1" for the second #.

Confused? I'll be happy to help further if you need it.

I definately need help. We have never been to the AKL. I know we are booked with a Savanah view (part of the Disney land and sea package). I wanted to request rooms with a good view. Do I understand then there are no first floor rooms? What level is best to see the giraffes up close (kinda eye level) and is it better to have a higher room that might even allow a view of the castle or am I way out there with that idea? hat ever help you can provide is greatly appreciated.

There is no view of Cinderella's castle at AKL...it's a few miles away. We stayed in 4229, that room was on the Arusha savannah with a great view. We had a queen/Bunk Bed set up.

When you walk into AKL, the 3rd floor is the "main level".

Good luck. Personally, I don't think there is a "bad" view from any room at the AKL, it's a lovely place.

OK. There are first floor rooms but they are only in two 'blocks' near the pool area. I think your best bet is to decide which Savannah you want to be on based on animals and then pick a floor. Personally, I like the 3rd floor since it is the main lobby level and you won't have to deal with elevators or stairs to get to the correct floor in order to cross the resort. Go here to read about the animals: http://www.wdwinfo.com/aklodge/animals.htm

Unfortunately, I can't find a resort map on line for you to look at. I could try to describe the layout but that might be even more confusing for you. Let me know if there's more I can do.

Remember that requests are not guaranteed and put them in order of importance such as location or type of room first etc.

And yes, no castle view from AKL only animals. :D

I don't know if this helps, but we just returned from the AKL and loved our room (number 2573). It had two queen beds, was smack dab in front of a watering hole, and at perfect "eye level" with the animals. We also liked being on that level because when the CMs cruise around the savannah picking up droppings, etc... it is easy to catch their attention and ask them questions about the animals (which we did on several occasions and found everyone to be very informed/helpful). We had a stroller, so we did have to deal with the elevator, but it truly was a minor additional step (the resort was full, but we never waited more than a few moments for an elevator). If you are stroller and/or wheelchair free, you can avoid the elevator by just walking to the end of the lobby and utilizing the short flight of steps... bam! your on level 2.

Next time I might try a higher floor to get the "bird's eye view", but you really could see across the savannah from our vantage point (under the tree canopy line), so we didn't miss any animals.

Hope this information is helpful!

Here's a link to a resort map: http://allearsnet.com/acc/aklmap3.jpg

We were upgraded from Standard View to Savanah View on our last trip. We were all the way at the end of the Kudu Trail, room 3381. We were in the last "square" of Savanah View rooms near the Kudu's horns on the map. The view was great. We didn't see many giraffes since they hung out more on the Sunset Savanah (aka Vulture View :( ). We were able to see them daily from the many of the public viewing areas. We really liked being on the 3rd floor (no stairs or elevators), but the walk to the end of the trail was long. My husband liked the quietness of the area, but I think I'll ask for the Zebra trail next time so I don't have to walk 10-15 minutes for a mug refill or to use the pool.

THANK YOU!!!!!! The map is just what I needed to understand what everyone is saying.
