I have made reservations at the Dolphin in early Dec using the AP rate. I got the upgrade to Lakeview just by using the AP discount. What kind of view is this? Will I be able to see Illuminations or Fantasmic? I am really praying for a balcony (have 2 little ones who still nap and I want somewhere to escape). I sent a room request through the Dolphin and Swan website....are there any other tricks to try to help get me a balcony? This is my first stay in this resort so I just don't know what to expect. Is Club Level something to request? What does it involve and will it cost more or is it achievable by luck and upgrades at the time of check in? Also, I am in bit of a sticky predicament because they only had the AP rate discount available for 4 nights of our 8 night stay, so I still have to figure out where we will be staying the first 4 nights. Waiting on AP rates as it seems everyone else is as well. Should I just book the first 4 nights at the Dolphin and see if they have any other room cancellations to free up more AP rate rooms or should I just wait and try to book a different resort when AP rates come out?

If anyone can help with any one of my numerous questions I would be greatly appreciative! Thanks!

Oh, one other question: I know the Swan has had some pretty amazing renovations done to the rooms....will the Dolphin be tacky or sub par ya think?

Complimentary upgrades are usually given if available. E mail the S/D through their website asking "sweetly" for a comp upgrade. Ask again upon check-in. I'm not sure they will give you a balcony room and CL comp upgrade - but anything is possible at the wonderful S/D! :)

To increase your chances of an upgrade, join Starwood Preferred Guest @ www.spg.com - it's free and there are no strings or hassles attached. When you check-in, let them know you are an spg member.

Depending on the room location, you can see the higher fireworks of Illuminations and Fantasmic - whichever view your room faces.

Renovations at the Dolphin are underway. Even if you don't get a renovated room, you won't be disappointed, the original decor is whimsical in color and design - the kids will like it.
