Need help and advice on Air Purifiers?????

Thank you.

I'm wondering which size will work best? I have an apartment, about 1000 sq ft. I dont know the exact dimensions of each room. The living room and dining room are not separated, its like one big room. shaped like an "L" .

question: Would an airpurifier work in just the section of the living room (where i spend most of my time - Im never in the dining room) or would it defeat the purpose, not covering the entire area?

I would like to buy 2 of them, one for the bedroom and one for the living room. Unless i buy one and use it in both rooms.

I sound like an idiot, but I have no clue about these things. I'm going to narrow it down based on the ones you guys suggested.

thanks again!! =)

We have two but only use one (I got them DIRT cheap a couple of months ago). Our bedroom is about 12x17 and the one we have (the 02 model) seems to be enough even though the adjacent room is connected visa and archway.

I would recommend two. The small one for the bedroom and the larger for the living area. The larger one may be too noisy for your bedroom. I run ours on "2" and it's not objectionably loud. In fact, it's kinda like those white noise machine and I think it helps me sleep better. My wife doesn't. But since I'm the one with allergies, I win!

If you decide to get the one I recommend, shop around because I just posted the link to Amazon because it was easy to find them. However, the $70 price for the "02" model is probably the best because they used to go for over $100. Also, I'll post a link to the place I got the replacement filters.

Lastly, these have a rotating led thingy on top and will change colors (green to yellow to red (I believe)) when the filter is loosing efficiency. Behind the filter is a reset button you press when you change the filter.

You can extend the life of the filter by vacuuming it from time to time.

No advice, Chris, just stopping to say hello.

Do hope you get relief too. :cloud9:

hey Dan:flower3: nice to see you! Thanks for the hello :goodvibes

Ok.. so I broke down and bought a Honeywell TrueHEPA air purifier today at Walmart. Charade: I couldnt remember the brand you mentioned, so I took the chance with this one. They say I have 30 days to return. I'm going to try it for a week in the bedroom. If there's no change I'll return it.

Thanks to all of you for the advice- I'll keep you posted in a few days!!

a pre-filter has to be replaced that often? hmmm.. and they are expensive?

This is another thing I need to consider and would like to avoid.

thanks for the info!

A 2-pack of pre-filters is about $9.00 at Target. The Honeywell 17000 has a run timer that lights an LED when it's time to change the pre-filter. When I change it, it becomes very apparent how much dust was taken out of the air.

Good choice, let us know how you like it! :thumbsup2

I bought mine at Sams Club a couple of months ago with the Hepa thing because of my asthma, it cost me 100.00. It hasn't helped me one bit, although I will say if you want to get rid of a stinky smell it will help for that.

In a way I think it made my asthma worse at times sorry

Ok.. here's my first nights review with my new air purifier:

I can tell there's a difference in the air quality; Its cleaner air.

During the night I was able to breathe (a little) through my nose, after waking up, I barely left the room and I cant breathe out of my nose. I dont know whats causing it??

Example: I went to Disney for a week. That week I was able to breathe freely through my nose.. after a few days back home.. back to the normal stuffed up nose.

the only thing seems to give me some relief is Zicam nose spray. but it only lasts for a day.. I'm trying to stay away from that type of nose spray cause if used in excess it can make the symptoms worse, or so they say. I use Saline nasal spray as well but doesnt really do anything:confused3

My allergies have become worse over the last year.. I have medication to keep my Asthma under control (I use Symbicort) and Allegra for my sneezing and such.. but I have yet to find a decongestant that works :sad2:

I'm going to give it till the end of the week with the air purifier...
