OK, I called Sammy Duvall and spoke with the nicest man. They will honor my groupon in June :banana::banana::banana: My DS is so excited. I really hate to cause a fuss and really did not want to call. I read over the groupon again to get ready to call them and see if I could get a refund and the fine print stated

Discount Voucher Expires On: Feb 23, 2011. However, even if the promotional offer stated on your Groupon has expired, applicable law may require the merchant to allow you to redeem your Voucher
beyond its expiration date for goods/services equal to the amount you paid for it. If you have gone to the merchant and the merchant has refused to redeem the cash value of your expired Voucher, and if applicable
law entitles you to such redemption, Groupon will refund the purchase price of the Voucher per its Terms of Sale. Partial Redemptions:

So, I thought well at best they could say no or just five me the credit toward something when we are there in June.

Thank you everybody for your help and this has really worked out for us. So excited we will get to use it now.

Old Post :I got the groupon deal for the para sailing at Disney a while back. Well, as things go we now will not be near the world till June. I had purchashed it and was going to give it to a friend that is in the CP program. It was going to be a gift for her and her soon to be husband, a surprise for when he picked her up in Jan. Wel,l her grandfather has been diagnosed with cancer and she will be leaving Disney this week ( yes her program dates ends the 17th and she has gotten the OK to leave) and her dad is just going to pick her up as they go straight to him for his surgery.

What can I do with this certificate, it expires in Feb. The certificate said I needed to make a reservation. Think I would have any chance of calling the Sammy Duvall's Watersports Centre and they actually work out a way to honor the certificate in June.:rolleyes1 I know, I am dreaming on that one. Can anyone offer any suggestion?

It doesn't hurt to call them and ask - maybe if you explain the situation they'll make an exception?

Bump for any other ideas. Doesn't look like I can get it extended.

Groupon has a satisfaction guaranteed policy - so if you email them they should credit your account back the money you spent. I would do this before it expires.

I agree with the PP. If you cannot use it call their customer service and get a refund.

Really? Not to start a debate or anything, but why should Groupon give the money back? It isn't Groupons fault that she isn't able to use the certificate. It isn't that the company went out of business.

I have had a few Groupons expire that I haven't been able to use and I chalk it up to the risk you take when buying such inexpensive gift certificates. I also am the queen of using Groupons on the last day possible. :confused3 If people abuse the system, Groupons are going to start getting more and more expensive and/or have less and less certificates offered.

It's not "abusing the system"... groupon gives your money back for something that you are not using. It's just like making a return at the store. It's allowed by their terms of use so there is no abuse going on. It's fine if you choose to let your groupons expire but no reason why someone else has to and be out the money :confused3

ETA: Abusing the system would be continually buying groupons, using them, and then claiming you are not satisfied just to get something for free.

I do agree with these statements and will check into this. I would not have a problem with most of the things I have gotten with them being $10-20 each but this groupon was over $100 and 12 hours away.

BUMP to say thanks to all who helped. I updated the first post with our good news, thank you dis'ers for the encouragement to call and check the fine print:worship::worship:
