Need good advice from those who have done both...drive and fly

DH an I were just discussing this a few days ago. We drove 3x 1200 miles , 2 days of 10 hours each day with a stop at the NC/SC border overnight. The last trip we rain into storms all the way down on I95 from Ct to Fl and the same thing returning home. That was the last time we drove, next trip we flew and have never drove again.

We hated how on the last day at Disney besides being sad that the trip was ending , we dreaded the thought of that long drive home.

We are both retired now and we both feel that we might consider driving again but we would take our time 4 maybe 5 or more days each way, stop when and where we want to see and do what we want before and returning from Disney. Our time now is not resticted and it might be a nice road trip, "Someday"but not for saving money purposes.

We are flying to Disney this October not driving

We finally drove for first time last February. Our recent retirement afforded us the extra days so we thought - let's give it a try. We stopped overnight both down and back - it was just too much for us to go straight thru. I have to say that it was not difficult - we timed getting around large cities well. All in all, I have to say that I would prefer flying. Funny thing was that when we reached Disney, we only used the car twice in two weeks.

When we drove and had access to a car we only used it when we went to US , Seaworld and HDDR. Taking the bus and letting someone else deal with the driving is so much better while on vacation.

My Ddil stayed offsite last year and drove to the parks each day, even she said it was a hastle after having used the Disney Buses for transportation

Thanks everyone.

I think we will be driving....as of right now, but I won't rule out flying.

We've flown, taken the train and driven and we will always drive from now on. We know it will take us a couple days to get there and we are ok with that (we always stay at least 9 nights and don't take any days from our Disney time). Honestly, the drive with all the stops is part of our trip and our memories. We do love having our car, but we also love not having to depend on airlines, weather and whatnot that might delays us.

But you'll miss your opportunity for the free massage at the airport! :cool1:
