My DD's daisy troop leader asked if I could help her out. She is looking for something regarding Belgium to do with the girls.

Again, they are daisy's and she is looking for a Belgium map and maybe some kind of game or craft.

I know some of the DIS members are girl scout leaders. Can anyone tell me where on the internet I can find something? Does anyone have a good website they use?

Is this for Thinking Day?

http://www.wagggsworld.org/en/home which is the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts

which will take you to http://www.scouting.be which takes you to various sites in French to see the different scouting organizations in Belgium.

Not totally pertinent to what you asked, but I thought it would be useful.

I'm not totally sure what they are working on but the leader just asked me to help search the internet for some type of craft they could do.

I tried the site above but it was all in their language...

Guess I'll keep searching. Thanks for any leads.

Things we have done in the past...(not a leader anymore, but have alot of years there).

Get the Big Butcher Paper, make a map and/or flag. Look up Belgium and get the list of things associated with it and then have girls take turns making the project. Draw different pictures, write thoughts, compare/contrast, etc...unlimited ideas there.
Or they can make individual flags too.
Have a snack associated with the country and then end the meeting with a closing that includes Belgium.
A flag is cool because then you can display it.

That is off the top of my head. Maybe that can get you thinking.

Well, I don't know a thing about Belgium, but my thoughts are...find it on a map of Europe. Perhaps come in with some facts about the country--what they export and/or their specialities are (Belgian chocolate comes to mind--perhaps locate some for a snack?) I like the idea of having the girls make the flag, if it's not too complicated. If you know what language they speak there, perhaps they could learn "hello" and "good-bye". For Daisys, you're talking 5yo's and ~an hour, so it should be something siple, yet interesting. Good luck!
