DD will be doing a service project as part of the leadership camp she is attending this week.

They will be leading a bingo game with senior citizens. The dollar store items are the prizes.

So - what should she bring?

It can't be too hard to think of 2 things to bring - but between the three of us - we can't think of what would be a good prize - something like a deck of cards? Hand lotion? hand sanitizer? little packs of kleenex (purse-size)?

Any other ideas?

Thanks...

Old people always seem to like sweets! :rotfl:

Puzzles, stationary sets, comb brush set, snacks, crossword puzzle books, detergent. I would love to have this project!

Does it HAVE to be dollar store crap? DS's confirmation class hosts a bingo day every year and he always brought some kind of flowering plant. They were a HUGE hit.

I agree--why dollar store junk? Older people are typically trying to declutter not add a bunch of dollar tree junk. Could you do 1.00 lottery scratch offs???

I don't think it "has" to be dollar store stuff. That is simply what was on the packing list. Plus - there isn't a dollar store from here to the camp. ;)

It would cost us more than $2 in gas to actually go to a dollar store. So - personally I do not mind spending a little bit more on something, and go somewhere else.

Maybe we'll pick up a small bag of hard candies. That way - the residents can either have them for themselves, or share them with visitors. I'll probably lean towards a hand lotion. We can stop by a bath and body works - so that will be easy peasy.

Thanks!

I've seen older people buying rain hats, puzzle books(like soduku),and aluminum foil.
Really what the heck are they doing with that foil? Building a spaceship?

Oh and what about a sewing kit!

Did they say what kind of seniors they are? If they are in a nursing home confined to bed or are they seniors that can get out and about. It makes a difference.

If you aren't sure, I would go with sugar-less candy because many are watching their sugar and maybe a large print puzzle book or some hand-cream.
