What should I get my son's daycare teachers?

He's leaving the daycare b/c my SIL is going to watch him. We were very happy there and liked his teachers. He was only there 3 days a week for 6 months as an infant. However, I think those teachers are saints taking care of 8 babies everyday.

He has 4 teachers.

Originally, I was just going to bring in bagels or something along those lines. However, one of the teachers is due in August with her first baby so I want to get her a baby gift. I feel funny just getting her a gift even though it's for the baby so I wanted to get all 4 teachers a little something too.

Any suggestions?

I'd like to keep it in the $10 each range.

I'll probably still bring in some bagels or donuts or something for everyone.

TIA!

My sister just went to the Yankee Candle Outlet and got each of the teachers a nice tart burner and a couple of tarts. Sometimes you can get really nice burners for 2 for $15.

A nice note and a gift card. The card can be for a small amount, say $10.00. I usually go with Starbucks. I know some people say, "but I don't like coffee," well it is more than coffee. There are lemonade drinks and wonderful bakery items. One of the starbucks I was at had a little plate of cheese and crackers, so honestly it really would be a nice gift for just about anyone.

Our daycare has a rule that gifts must be given to all teachers equally in the same room, to avoid the appearance of favoritism. My experience has been that's a good rule to follow. We left one teacher out and instantly regretted it, yet the regret is still with me three years later.

The reason is that in a room with multiple teachers, even if one has primary responsibility, the others still do lots for your son. My recommendation would be to give them all something of equivalent value. The Starbucks card is a good one, or Peet's if you have that. Also, if there's a nearby restaurant that you know they frequent.

I might go with Starbuck's. I'm not a coffee drinker at all and never go there, but hopefully if someone else is a non-coffee drinker they can find something.

I plan on giving them all equal gifts with the exception of giving the expecting teacher a baby gift in addition to the gift card.

Thank you for the suggestions. :)

We really like gift cards! A parent actually gave us Starbucks cards over Christmas, and I'm not a coffee drinker either, but I discovered a really yummy smoothie so it all worked out :thumbsup2

go with a gift card. No amount is too small.

And please don't get candles. (or picture frames, ornaments, or lotions :headache:).

This.

As a teacher also, I can't stress enough how much a $5.00 gift card is appreciated over a similary priced coffee mug or other trinket that we may never use. One can ALWAYS use a gift card and HONESTLY, no denomination is too small--it's always GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks for wanting to do something nice for the teachers--it means a lot. :)

i went to Hobby Lobby and found some very pretty wall hangings for 50% off. They were square black frames with a clear glass in the center and their initial done in black in a cursive script. It had a black ribbon for hanging. Ended up being around $7 and the teachers loved them. I've heard lots of teachers say that they don't want/need anymore "teacher" gifts.

Gift cards seemed to be the most appreciated when my son was in daycare. Where we live, daycare is very low-paying and most of the women in there were young and just getting started out.

They loved gift cards for pizza or movie theater tickets. Starbucks too but just make sure that the person likes pizza or Starbucks!

I did a gift one time for my DD to give her daycare teachers at the end of the year that they all seemed to really love. I got a cute little container (Target dollar stop often has nice ones) filled it with Hershey's hugs and kisses, a Starbucks gift card and a tag that said "Thanks for being a great teacher. XOXO, Suzie"

You can't ever got wrong with food, especially chocolate!!

I have learned through this that the best gifts for teacher's are gift cards. Do not buy candles, mugs, keychains, totebags, or lotions, they end up in the garage sale ;)

We do$10 gift cards...for Christmas we did Panera Bread, it is close to the school, and for end of year I did $10 to Barnes and Noble. I have also done Wawa (which is a convienence store near us)

Thanks again everyone!

I like the idea of adding a little candy with the gift card.

I think that's what I will do.......

:goodvibes
