Need fresh dip idea!

Here's one we love...

Corn Dip
2 cans Mexi Corn, drained
3 green onions, chopped
2 Tbsp jalapeno (~1-2 total) I usually omit these
1 small can green chiles, chopped
1 c. mayonaise
1 c. sour cream
10 oz. shredded cheddar cheese
salt and pepper

Mix all ingredients together. Let sit in fridge overnight. Serve with Frito Lay scoops. Enjoy!

There is a Rachel Ray one I've made tons of times. It is easy and so good:

1 can chili
1 block cream cheese
10 ounces shredded cheddar (I usually do more)
1 small can diced jalepenos (I've used diced green chilis for a less adventurous crowd.)

I put the chili on to cook and let the cream cheese start melting in while the chili warms. I add the other ingredients. Once it is combined I add:

1 handful fresh cilantro.

Put in the oven at 350 for 10 minutes and voila! Anytime I take it to a party I never have leftovers, and the cilantro adds a fresh taste to it.

we call this Monkey Puke. GRoss I know but where we heard the name I don't know. We always have it at halloween along with our fingernails (Scoops corn chips) and worms and bloodclots (spaghetti and meatballs).

I can't wait to try the Spinach Artichoke dip! PP, I am so glad you posted that.

For something different for a fruit dip -

Caramel Apple Dip

1 block of cream cheese, softened
1 container of dipping caramel (sold in the produce section, next to the apples)
3 Heath bars or chocolate toffee bits, chopped

Spread the cream cheese in a dish. Top w/ caramel dip. Top w/ crushed/chopped Heath bars. Serve w/ slices of Granny Smith apples.

Yummy! Good way to sneak some fruit in........

Go to Sam's and buy a big tub of Hummus. It is delicious with veggies, and especially with Pita Chips. It requires unusual ingredients (tahini for one) so it is cheaper to buy it ready made. They sell it at grocery stores in the deli area, too..but more expensive there. At Sam's I got a large tub maybe a quart, for $5. It is yummy!!

Wow...I haven't had breakfast yet this morning and my tummy is GROWLING from reading all the yummy ideas :goodvibes . I need to tame this beast soon!

A few that were posted really stand out as something my family would enjoy:

Well, you did ask for something "different" right? ;)

The color of this dip tends to turn people off...really need a label, otherwise it looks like green-gray modeling clay :scared1: . But for oyster lovers, it's mmmmmm... Very good on toasted bagel rounds.

SERVES 4

Ingredients
1 (3 3/4 ounce) can smoked oysters
1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 pinch lemon pepper (optional)
1-2 dash hot sauce, to taste
salt or pepper to taste (optional)

Let cream cheese soften to room temperature. Add the oysters (you can either mash them in or coarsely chop then lightly mix them in, depending on the consistency you want), Worcestershire sauce and seasonings. If you want it to be smoother/thinner, sub some of the cream cheese with sour cream or mayo. You can also sprinkle on some chives.
OMG, I'm in heaven! We are an absolute seafood family for Christmas! We have hot crab dip, make oyster stew, have shrimp cocktails, and usually broil scallops (if I beg my father enough to make them his way ;) ). This sounds like it would compliment our Christmas Eve "munch around the house" and then leftovers could be used Christmas. Thanks for this unusual idea :thumbsup2 !

I have not tried this yet but is sounds good, I'm making it for Christmas. I think I'll buy gingerbread men cookies (because they will be hard opposed to homemade ones that may be too soft) to serve with it.
Pumpkin Dip
1 3oz pkg cream cheese, softened
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1 8oz tub thawed frozen whipped topping
1/4 C powdered sugar
1/2 C canned pumpkin
dash of cloves

Beat cream cheese and sugar until well blended. Stir in all remaining ingredients except whipped topping. Fold in whipped topping. Recipe makes about 2 1/2C

This dip I make weekly:
Caramel apple dip
1 8oz pk cream cheese, softened
1/3 C brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2-1 tsp caramel extract

With mixer mix all ingredients together. Serve with sliced apples

Another one I haven't tried but will make for Christmas;
creamy shrimp dip
1 lb cooked small shrimp
1 8oz carton sour cream
4 tsp horseradish or more to taste
1/4 C ketchup
1/4 C mayo
1/2 tsp salt
2 Tbsp fresh dill, snipped plus more for garnish or 2 tsp dried
1/4 tsp hot pepper sauce
1/4 tsp black pepper
3 heads endive

Finely chop shrimp. In medium bowl combine sour cream, horseradish, ketchup, mayo, salt, 2 Tbs fresh dill, hot sauce and pepper. Stir to combine; add shrimp and stir to mix thoroughly. Cover and refrigerate at least 2hrs or up to 1 day. Trim bottoms off endive and remove leaves, cutting end as needed. Remove dip from refrigerator 30min before serving; garnish with dill. Serve with endive or crackers. Makes 3 C

Once again, appealing to my seafood family :thumbsup2 Might have to try this instead of the hot crab dip! Also, the pumpkin dip will totally be made for "munch around the house" Christmas Eve! Thank you for the idea :)

We are a dip family! This is a favorite of ours. Plus it warms in a crock pot so it stays yummy however long you need it to.
Hot Bacon and Cheese Dip

8 slices bacon -- diced
8 ounces cream cheese -- cubed
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
6 tablespoons half and half
1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 teaspoon onion salt (or dried minced onion)
dash tabasco sauce
I also like a few dashes of garlic salt

Fry finely diced bacon in skillet until crisp; drain on paper towels and set aside. Place cream cheese, cheddar cheese, half and half, worcestershire sauce, mustard, onion salt and tabasco in the slow cooker. Set on low and allow cheese to melt slowly, stirring occasionally for approximately 1 hour. Taste and adjust seasonings. Just before guests arrive, stir in bacon and serve directly from slow cooker. If mixture becomes to thick, add more half and half to thin.
OMG, yum! My tummy really growled when I read this recipe! Great idea for my Christmas work party :thumbsup2 .

Sour Cream
Packet of Taco Seasoning
Sharp Cheddar Cheese

Mix them all together and serve with tortilla chips.
Love how simple this is! I make homemade nachos once every two weeks...sounds like it will be a nice topping instead of plain sour cream :)

This is easy to make, and is my favorite dip on ruffled chips:

2 8oz packages of cream cheese
1/2 chopped onion
1 - 1 1/2 large cucumbers (don't peel)
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper

Blend in a blender or mixer just until thick, don't blend too long or it will get runny. It is a really yummy dip.

Wow, this sounds like a very "fresh" idea! Looks like a perfect Spring/Summer outdoor party dip idea. Actually...I may just go ahead and use this for Thanksgiving!

I make this for parties all the time- Baked Potato Dip

INGREDIENTS
2 (16 ounce) containers sour cream
1 (3 ounce) can bacon bits
2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
1 bunch green onions, chopped

In a medium size mixing bowl, combine sour cream, bacon, Cheddar cheese and green onions; stir well. Refrigerate, or serve immediately.

You need thick pretzels or crackers to serve with this. It's also good on baked potatoes!!

I don't think this one has been posted yet, if it has - I'm sorry! My Aunt makes this every time we visit. I can't get enough of it (and my thighs show it :rotfl2: )- I've even resorted to making it for dinner (I live by myself)- bad- I know... but it's just so good!

Spicy Sausage Dip

1 roll of Bob Evans (or whom ever's) Spicy/ Zesty Sausage
2 blocks Cream Cheese
1 can of Rotel

Brown sausage, drain fat. Mix in softened cream cheese and Rotel - serve hot with Fritos Scoops.

Lipton ranch packet and a tub of sour cream. Mix and let sit for an hour so the flavors meld.

Cook 1/2 package of bacon crunchy and crumble
1 cup of shredded sharp cheddar

Mix all ingredients together and serve semi cold from fridge, like let sit out for 1/2 hour to 1 hour.

Serve with veggies and chips, it is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo yummy and simple.

Oh man my husband would LOVE this one. He is a sausage fu-reak!!! I can't find Bob Evans out here but when we go back to Ohio, where he is from, we eat it all the time!!! :)

Have you tried spinach dip in a bread bowl? I always use the recipe on the Knorr Vegetable Soup box. If I remember correctly, it's 1 packet of powered Knorr Vegetable Soup, 1 box of frozen spinach (thaw and squeeze out liquid), 1 container of sour cream, chopped water chestnuts. I think there's also about a cup of mayo. I use fat free mayo and fat free sour cream to cut the calories. After you mix it all together, you can serve it in a hollowed out round of sourdough bread. If you're traveling, keep the dip in the cooler and don't put it in the bread round until you get where you're going. You can serve it with cubed sourdough bread (I usually buy an extra loaf in addition to what comes out of the round), crackers or veggies.

I love this dip!!!

We make almost the exact same thing only we use Jimmy Dean Sausage. Once the cheese & rotel are mixed in we put it in a pie plate and top with Monterray Jack Cheese and bake for just a few minutes until the cheese melts and the dip bubbles. Everyone loves this dip when we bring it to parties.

Easy and delicious!

1 tub of spreadable cream cheese - spread on large plate
1 large jar of cocktail sauce (or make your own with ketchup and horseradish) - spread on top of cream cheese
1 large can of lump crab meat - spread/sprinkle on top of cocktail sauce.

Serve with Ritz or Club crackers. Gets rave reviews every time!

1 block of softened cream cheese
Jar of green olives with pimento.

Chop the olives up and mix with the cream cheese add a little bit of the juice frm the olives and stuff celery or serve with vegetables.

We make trays of this at our family gatherings.

One of our favorites:

Buffalo Chicken Dip
1/2 cup shredded cooked chicken (can also use 1 can of chicken)
1 pkg of cream cheese
1/2 c of Bleu Cheese dressing
1/4 c hot sauce
1/2 c shredded cheddar cheese

Mix cream cheese, hot sauce and bleu cheese dressing. Spread onto a greased pan. Layer chick on top of cream cheese mixture and sprinkle with shredded cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Serve with crackers and celery sticks.

Wow. I didn't think that this dip could get better- but adding more cheese and browning it sounds even better!

I made this last weekend and it was a huge hit.

Spicy Chicken Cream Cheese Dip

8 ounces cream cheese
3/4 cup mayonnaise
8 ounces canned chicken or 1 cup cooked chicken breast
2 (4 ounce) cans diced green chilies
1-2 tablespoon hot sauce
1 teaspoon seasoning salt
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 cup shredded colby or longhorn cheese or cheddar cheese
1/4 cup diced green onion
1/4 cup diced bell pepper (green, yellow or orange)
Combine cream cheese, mayonnaise, chicken, cheese and spices; Warm in micro-wave until bubbly; about 10 minutes. You be the judge.
Just before serving, top with green onions and bell pepper.
Cook in confection for 4-5 minutes or microwave for 3-4minutes.
Serve with corn chips or whole wheat crackers

One dip that seems to always pop up at get togethers is corn dip, and it's very easy to make:

1 can of Mexican Corn
1 cup of mayonnaise
1 cup of Parmesan cheese
1 bag of shredded Mexican cheese (with the jalapeno peppers)

Mix the first three together with 1/2 of the shredded cheese and bake at 350 for 30 minutes. 1/2 way through baking, sprinkle the rest of the cheese on the top. Goes great with tortilla chips or Fritos!!
________________________________

For fruit, I make this dip:

1 jar of Fluff
1 bar of softened cream cheese
1 tsp. of vanilla

Blend all three ingredients together until smooth. Serve with sliced bananas, apples, pears, strawberries, grapes, pineapple....Delicious!

Ok, made this last night and stopped blending JUST as it began to get watery. It's a little chunky yet, is that how it should be? It definitely tastes really good! I added a little more salt this morning. That helps to bring out the "fresh" taste. I am really excited to serve this tomorrow!!!

I'm making this dip tomorrow (it's from http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/):

Crab dip

--1 pound crab meat (imitation crab meat is NOT gluten free. Go for the real stuff!)
--3 packages (8oz each) cream cheese
--1/2 cup buffalo wing sauce (or you can use 1/2 cup jarred salsa)
--1 can chilies and tomatoes, drained (Rotel)
--1/2 cup milk
--2 lemons, optional

The Directions.

I used a 4 quart crockpot. This feeds 20 people as an appetizer, or one cranky woman as a meal.

Sort through the crab and make sure that there aren't any shells.

Cube the cream cheese and put it into your crockpot. Plug it in and turn to high to begin melting the cream cheese. Add the buffalo wing sauce (or salsa), milk, and the drained can of Rotel.

Put in the crab, and stir gingerly to combine. Cover and cook on low for 2-3 hours, stirring every 20 to 30 minutes, or on high for no more than 2 hours, stirring often.

Serve with your favorite crackers, cubed bread, or celery sticks.
If you plan on serving out of the crockpot, you can "pretty it up" by inserting slices of lemon all the way around the edge of the dip in the crock.

2 Blocks of Cream Cheese
1/4 heaping cup of chopped craisens
1/4 heaping cup of chopped pecans
1 tsp sugar
1/4 cup orange marmalaid
1/2 tsp of cinnamon

Blend and its amazing with townhouse crackers...or ritz.
