Here's what I have so far for our DHS day July 6th:

- Arrive by 8 or 8:15, beeline for Jedi training sign up. Hoping for show before lunch ADR at 12:45. I plan to study up on the "tricks of the trade" for getting there quickly...I do NOT run, lol
-Ride Rock n Roller coaster standby if line not crazy. If too crazy skip
-FP's for TOT, TSMM, and Star Tours at 10, 11, 12
-see march of the first order at some point
-Jedi training show in there somewhere, depending on what show time we get

12:45 lunch at Mama Melrose Fantasmic dining package

After lunch break at resort

Return for 5 pm Beauty and the Beast, 6:30 Frozen sing a long (any late afternoon times really!)
Explore launch bay, meet Chewy and maybe Kylo Ren (he scares me, lol)
Repeat any rides w/4th FP or standby, esp. RnRC which we may have skipped
grab some quick service dinner or snacks
Fantasmic at 9

Questions:
1. Is this realistic or too optimistic? I am clueless about time needed for JTA sign up, show, and just time needed to traipse about the park!
2. Assuming the 10,11,12 FP's are the best choices for those rides, correct?
3. Should I try to get FP for the shows we want to see in the afternoon?
4. Any educated guesses on 4th FP availability in July for DHS?

Sorry for long post, this is only my 2nd trip to WDW...thanks for your feedback!!

After lunch break at resort

Return for 5 pm Beauty and the Beast,

This is the part of your day that concerns me. MM is notorious for running late. I can't see you being done with lunch until around 2:00. That puts you back at your resort between 2:30-3:00. You'll need to be back out at the bus stop around 4:30 to try to make the 5:00 B&B, and really 4:15 would be better. That doesn't leave much rest time. July will be HOT and there aren't many places at HS where you can sit in the a/c for a break. You'll need that break, so you may have to choose between B&B and Frozen sing-a-long or if there is a later B&B, plan for that one.

I would take a long relaxing lunch and use that as your break. And, after lunch, to extend your "break" do indoor shows like Little Mermaid, Frozen, as well as Launch Bay.

We feel like doing this is more restful than dealing with transport to and from the hotel

I always try to make my breaks at least 4 hours including travel time and I usually plan 90 minutes for a meal. So, like PP said, can you shift the later show times?

I am clueless about time needed for JTA sign up, show, and just time needed to traipse about the park!

When we did Jedi Training in November, we were among the first groups through the tapstiles (at about 8:40), we were about 50 people back in line for sign-ups and we were finished signing up at 8:55. We got into the second show, which started at 9:40. This didn't leave us any time to do rides before the show, but we got it out of the way first thing. A few things to note:
  • they ask you to arrive 30 minutes early for your show. If you are late, and they finish registering kids before you get there, they may give your spot to someone on the standby list. Don't be late!
  • the show itself takes about 20 minutes, (plus a few minutes to walk over from the staging area) so the total experience time (not including sign-up) is about an hour. Make sure to take a bathroom break first!
  • the stage is not covered. Neither is the audience viewing area. It gets really hot when it's sunny, and if shows are cancelled due to rain, you're out of luck unless there still happen to be spots open in later shows (shows are not pushed back or rescheduled) I suggest working it into your early morning plans and taking the first timeslot available if the weather is good when you get there.
  • the Jedi Training Academy stage is right next to Star Tours, so if you can ride it right after the show, it will avoid backtracking later. My husband and kids were able to ride twice right after our show time with about 10 minute waits.
We didn't find that it took that long to get around HS. If you do have to backtrack, it's not that big of a deal. Crowds will be higher during your visit than they were during mine, so I can't comment on what wait times or 4th FP+ availability will be like. But I hope everything works out for you!
