Can anyone tell me what the odds are for May 5 - 12 of getting an ECV at the parks when I need one. I have a bad knee and I have a hard time walking long distances. Last year, When this problem started I got by without. This year it is worse. We are staying at POR and with the busses usually being very full, I really don't want to try getting on buses. Can anyone who has rented ECVs at the park tell me wether my odds are good or whether they are "iffy" trying to rent one when we go to the parks.

Thanks

best bet is to rent offsite.. guaranteed in stock, use of it outside the parks and at the resort and less expensive.

I only use a WC( cannot operate an ECV) and usually get to a park 'just' past rope drop. once I was in line behind a person who rented FOUR of 'em at once. he took fully half of what was available right there( have no idea if there were more charging in the back)

In fact next time I go I have decided to get a WC from offsite from now on.. the last time getting from entrance to bus stops was the end of me. and I was in the very last room in the back end of the resort furthest from the bus stop you could possibly be and still be in the resort...and no WC available at the resort.

I have rented in May many times never a problem but we are there first thing in the morning. I have my own scooter now so I haven't rented in 4 years. I don't know if things have changed

You should probably not have a problem if you are there within a short time of opening. I would not count on getting one if you park hop or leave and come back later.

As others have said, if you arrive early you likely won't have any issues... however, later in the day can be problematic...

I understand your intimidation with getting on the buses with an ECV, but if that is your only reason for not renting off site, please, don't let that stop you...

The drivers are very helpful and I find most people kind and patient... it takes a bit of getting used to but after a few times you will be a pro ;)

There are so many good reasons to rent from off-site... price, availability, etc... don't let getting on and off the buses stop you from doing it! :thumbsup2

I have seen posts that say when staying at POR because of the busses usually being standing room only many times, that sometimes you have to wait for another bus or possibly two. I will have four of my grandchildren with me and don't want them to have to wait as well. I do agree that off-site rental is probably best but may just have to take the chance of getting one at the parks. I can motovate without an ECV but with some difficulty and sometimes much discomfort. Thank you all for your advice.
