Hi everyone! :)

My wedding is fast approaching and being the busy bride that i am, I am in a hurry to complete something I have long put off and now I am stuck! :hourglass

I am making our own wedding announcements and they turned out adorable! I want to get them finished, addressed, sealed, and stamped before we leave so that when we get home i just have to toss them in the mail. :cloud9:

So here is my question:

Our announcements are plain white with black lettering. I have a clipart of the two people dancing in front of teh castle at the top. But there is about a 1.5 - 2 inch space at the top because i planned on tying a sheer bow at the top the color of our wedding. :goodvibes

Problem:

I am not good at tying bows and they are not turning out the way I hoped, so does anyone have a cute and creative idea of how to put a splash of color on these and fill the space at the top, without having to tie a bow?

:scared: HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

TIA! ;)

I would go to a Michaels or another nearby craft store and see if you can find some little bows already made up (maybe by the scrapbooking stuff) or some other scrapbooking type embellishments that you can just glue on the front of the cards.

Ok warning- I am one of the least creative people in the world, but I do have an idea. Feel free to laugh at it though...

What if you just attached the sheer ribbon without a bow? Just run the ribbon accross the length of the card and secure it on the under-side. I hope that made sense. Just a thought :)

Funny you say that, i was planning on playing with an idea similar to that when i got home from work today!

Also, Indy is about to get SLAMMED with snow and ice, so I will most likely have all day tommorow to play with ideas, but I will need to get supplies tonight! They are talking that we may lose power and it may shut the city down for a couple of days! :sad2:

There are also hole punches available that punch a slit, not a round hole. you could then weave the ribbon in and out. Not sure who makes the punches, but I saw one in one of my scrapbooking magazines the other day.

You could use those little roses they have in the wedding aisle in Hobby Lobby. They come in about 6 per bunch in various colors. You could just glue the rose in your wedding color to the top of the card.

Sorry about the snow and ice. I hope you guys don't freeze, or lose power.

what about just puncing 2 round holes, pull the ribbon piece thru' from behind, tie in a neat loose-ish know and trim the edges diagonally (a simpler version of the above).

you could do a fancy sticker

glue a flat backed crystal(large one) or find self adhesive ones in a design

do a stamp with a saying or your soon to be monogram

a little charm like they have in the scarpbooking section in wedding theme

hope this helps:thumbsup2

Here is an easy bow. I hope that my directions are easy to understand

1. punch two holes about an inch apart
2. looking at the front of the car place the ribbon through each hole so that the two ends come out the back. The ribbon should be flat. Hopefuly it will look something lie this

(front)
___________
| .----. |

(back)
__________
| . . |
| / \ |

3. Take the two ends and criss cross them on the backside.
4. Weave the two ends through the opposite holes on the backside, pull through the front.
(front) (back)
___________ ____________
| ---.---.---| | .===. |

5. Straighten them out so that they are flat.

HTH. It's easier to show then to give details but I I hope that this helps. It comes out as a simple, clean bow without a knot.
