DS13 is getting a cell phone for Christmas. :santa: He doesn't know, and I don't think he's expecting it but he'll be thrilled. He's been asking but I've flat out told him no it wasn't up for discussion.

I'm looking for creative gift-wrapping suggestions. I want it to be the last thing he finds.

I've done the little box, in a bigger box, in a bigger box thing before so that wouldn't be as funny. I was thinking maybe hiding it in a package of new socks or something like that but I'm not too creative.

Any fun ideas I can use?

Thanks!

Hide it IN the tree and call it at the end of gift-opening. Set the ring tone to a Christmas carol.

I like that one as well
was going to suggest put it in the pocket of a horrid christmas sweater

You could have him do a scavenger hunt around the house? How about hiding it in the couch cushion and have it ring when you want him to find it? We gave the kids texting a couple years ago and I wrapped up their phones. They opened them with a "what the heck" look on their face until one of them opened the phone and saw the text message from me.

Maybe you could hid it in one of YOUR presents and pull it out with a "what the heck" look on your face and toss it over to him and ask if he knows who that belongs to??

You can get a locked box where you have to complete the maze with a small ball before it will unlock. When it is unlocked you can open up the box and have the cell phone sitting in there.

When DH got me my first cell phone for Christmas he wrapped it up in a big candy box, and got my sister to go to the "bathroom" while I was opening it and call my phone, while I was still opening. I laughed so hard when my gift started vibrating and then ringing while I was opening it :)

I was thinking to put it in a new pair of socks.

Our house is full of rocks that the kids have picked up when we vacationed in upper Michigan. For gift cards and smaller gifts (particularly for gift exchanges), I'll load up the box with rocks -- they make a lot of noise when shakened and are very heavy.

Have fun!!! I'll be doing something similar for DD next year!

DD is getting an Ipod touch, and we are hanging it on the tree in a lime-green colored stocking, that is just big enough for the package to fit in.

THis is partly a joke for DD, because I mentioned to her that St. Nick was having a hard time finding the appropriate ornament for her for St. NIck's (she gets an ornament every year for St. Nick.) DD suggested that St. Nick could hang her new Ipod touch on the tree instead...She doesn't know she is getting one, but she is very hopeful!

Buy him a Snuggie - maybe the leopard print one - and hide it in that :rotfl2:

My DH knew I was notorious for gently opening packages under the tree before Christmas so he really got me one year. He put a bunch of junk like socks and a huge padlock in a box about the size of a shoe box and wrapped it with duck tape. I was puzzeled and frustrated for days only to find it wasn't a gift after all.

I love the tree idea too.

DD is getting her first cell phone for Christmas also. We're going to put it in a huge box and make sure it's the last one she gets. We're going to tape the snot out of that box...it's going to take some effort to get it open...meanwhile DH and I are going to take keep calling the phone inside the box the whole time. She'll be able to hear it...but won't be able to open the box:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I'm usually not this mean....well I am..but not with children. It's just that this child has driven everyone CRAZY with her obsession with cell phones!!! She's just going to have to wait a few extra minutes!:rotfl:
