My husband and I will be celebrating our 15th anniversary in July. We are looking to take a trip with out the kiddos, and are in need of some ideas and suggestions. We have been to Disney several times by ourselves and are looking to do something different this time. Please tell me your ideas, suggestions or favorite places to go for a romantic couples trip. We live in Virginia Thanks in advance!

We celebrated our 30 year anniversary, on Kauai, Hawaii last month. Awesome place. Relaxing or as busy as you want it to be.

We went to NYC for a long weekend. It was nice. Took in a show & did some sight seeing.

Paris is so romantic, as is Barcelona. And they are both cooler than Italy in July.

How far are you willing to go and how much time do you want to spend? Is there a budget to consider?

For a long weekend, since you live in Newport News, VA, I would go to Colonial Williamsburg or Washington, DC so much to do in either place.

Just did a week down in Naples for a get away just the dh and myself. Talk about relaxing...beautiful area, great shops, tons of restaurants and outside cafes, beautiful beach, zoo, fishing, boats etc etc....not sure of your idea of a getaway or budget but the getaway for us was just what we needed after the holiday madness. We live NE so the warmth :beach:was so wonderful....:goodvibes
Wherever you choose have a wonderful time and HAPPY Anniversary in advance.pixiedust:

I really wanted to stay in the US, since my kids will be staying with family, although a cruise isn't out of the question either. I am thinking about 4-7 days gone and I would like to keep it under 3,000, so I can still budget a trip to Disney with the family at the end of the year too.

I lived in Williamsburg 2010-2011 and then moved to DC 2011-2012 until June. I loved both places but I've done a lot in both cities, not to mention that WMBG is about 15 minutes away, lol but those are great suggestions!!

Something like this would be wonderful but I don't think Im ready to take that leap yet while leaving my kids in family's care. My kids are 13 and 15 I know that I probably sound like a crazy over protective mom, but in 2007 we left them in the care of my mil while we went to WDW and they were involved in a car accident. Since then it has been very hard for me to shake the feeling of helpless of when I got that phone call. I know that is probably silly but I just dont feel like I can go that far right now, silly huh??

This one is on the list as well, I priced out a 4 night trip with hotel and airfare it was around 1900, that just seems like a lot am I wrong?? I told dh so he said, NY is not too far, just price out the hotel only and we could drive, I took the airfare off, it was still 1400?? Any tips on how to save $$ at this destination?

Thanks for the well wishes. I would LOVE to go to Key West. I am from FL and I have been craving some time to just be at the beach. DH craves excitement (think Vegas) but I crave romance and relaxation. We both need to come to a happy medium, soon.

Personally I'd go to Europe, but within your parameters I'd say Bermuda.

I thought Bermuda too, I looked at several cruises that sailed from Baltimore, however my crazy dd thinks if we go there we will fall into the Bermuda triangle and never return. My child is crazy, lol.

Savannah, GA is very nice. DH and I did a long weekend there and stayed in the historic district.

Puerto Rico is also very nice if you're looking for something more tropical. Beaches, Rain Forest, Old San Juan, are all popular sightseeing options.

I really like San Diego (and you could also go to Disneyland). Lots to see and do, but there are some nice romantic places too.

We have been, with DS, to Historic Williamsburg/D.C.
Also have been thru there, years ago, just DH and I, because we knew somebody who had a timeshare condo.
I would NOT consider this romantic, at all.
Especially in the heat and crowds of summer.

NYC, at a very nice full service hotel...
A short cruise...
There are some very nice, albeit expensive, full service mountain resorts.

Out west, there would be some nice resorts at Sedona, Vegas, Wine Country, San Francisco and the west coast...

What do YOU two like to do.
What would you consider fun and romantic!

I think it really depends on what you find romantic. I loved Paris. I also love tropical vacations with absolutely nothing planned; I'm going to Bali in 5 months.

http://www.elizabethpointelodge.com/ Gorgeous views, right on the beach. Near St. Augustine, it's on amelia island-surfers, birders, beautiful and a very nice Inn.

http://www.theinnatlittlewashington.com/ very close to you and amazing! Fabulous food!

Take a look at the Princess hotels on Bermuda; it's so beautiful and charming there!

Ocracoke Island is like stepping back in time. Ferry over and spend a short week. From there, ferry up to Hatteras Island to see the famous Cape Hatteras National Seashore Lighthouse. This inn is delightful, full of charm. Lots of interesting shops, good food!

I could come up with several more but these are all a sure thing!

My first thought was Paris. Air tickets might make it a bit difficult to stay within your budget. I know of several well placed, charming hotels.

When are you going?

eta: I have an anniversary to plan too. We're taking two big weeks at the beach in June so the anniversary celebration will be short and not too expensive. Thanks for the kick in the pants. I'm excited to see where YOU decide to go. Be good to yourselves...you have accomplished something at least half the people who marry will never achieve! Congrats!
