I need some help, please.

I currently have booked the Vistana Villages for our June trip to Orlando. My husband thinks that it will be too far (4 to 5 miles) to return mid-day for a swim/nap and then return back to a park in the evening. We normally stay closer, but this trip we decided it would be helpful to have a small kitchen and washer/dryer in our villa.

My question is...........is there any type of condo or villa closer to the parks. I definately want the kitchen or kitchenette and a washer/dryer. We only plan on eating breakfast in the condo and then lunch & dinner out. We also like the two bedrooms, since the children like their space.

Thanks!

Terri

Sheraton Vistana Resort (not Village) is very close.

so is Cypress Pointe, Grand Beach.

I'm not sure how much closer you are looking to be - 4-5 miles doesn't seem very far!- but I just got back from a trip staying at "Vacation Villages at Parkway" (I had a link, but apparently I don't have enough posts to include that... you should just be able to google it) and that was really close:

2.2 miles from Magic Kingdom
2.8 miles from Epcot
2.3 miles from Hollywood Studios
~5-6 miles from Animal Kingdom

Other than that I'm not sure how much closer you can be besides being on site. We were right across the highway from the Wide World of Sports complex and 0.3 miles from the Animal Kingdom Lodge. The Vacation Villages resort is fantastic, too. I'd definitely recommend it. We didn't go to Animal Kingdom, but it only took 5-10 minutes to get to each of the other parks, sometimes including the time it took to park!

We rented @ Windsor Hills and it was amazingly close. Minutes. Even to Magic Kingdom, with the tram/monorail & drive it was completely do-able for us to take a break around 2pm.

I made reservations @ Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort yesterday. 2 bedroom condo w/ kitchen and living room. It's about 1 mile from disneyworld from what I've read! :goodvibes Trip advisor has great reviews. Lots of construction though.:rolleyes1

Its actually pretty much on Disney property, but not officially on Disney Property. Its right next to CBR, down the street from DTD. I too am renting a 2 bedroom. I am renting from Ken Price for $120 / night.

MK is not 2.2 miles from any offsite resort.

it is at least 7 miles.

SVR is 6.85 miles and it is as close to WDW as you can get.

Mapquest does not seem to understand where Epcot is - kepts insisting that it is only the cast entrance.

so would put Epcot about 2 miles away.

although Jameroo is correct for WDW 4 to 5 miles is nothing. (it is further too)

if he wants closer than you must stay onsite. Forgot Wyndham Bonnett's creek is very close too. Okay this is closer MK is 5 miles.

Whoops, yeah, sorry you are right about that. I think the 2.2 estimate was what we got from the resort itself? They must be going off how close the first entrance is or something. Either way, I know that Epcot and DHS were 10 mins away, and Magic Kingdom was a bit further (probably about 15). Either way, very close and totally plausible for an afternoon return, which we did a few times ourselves.

Apparently its not much closer than the reservations you have (thanks for the revised estimate, spiceycat) so I'd probably just keep those. Those few short mile/miles won't make much of a difference at all.

The closest "off-site" is definitely Bonnet Creek. I can't recommend this resort highly enough. It is SO CLOSE to all of the Disney parks, Downtown Disney, etc. and is an absolutely beautiful resort. I think it is the "best of both worlds"...the proximity of the Disney resorts with the price tag of off-site. We also rented from/and am renting again from Ken Price. If you don't need a full kitchen, you could also look at the Doubletree Hotel at the Downtown Disney resorts. It has one bedroom, a mini-kitchen ( I think?) and is more spacious than a regular hotel room.

Windsor Hills - www.disneyneighbor.com. Took us less than 10 minutes in the car in the early morning - little bit longer in the afternoon. Keep in mind, you still have to deal with the walk/tram ride to and from the parking lot.

This property looks amazing and exactly what we are looking for. How can I find a price that good? :goodvibes I saw their online AAA discounted price for a two bedroom is about $250 per night. Any suggestions are appreciated. THANKS!

I really appreciate everyone's suggestions. This one seems to have an ideal location and as you say "the best of both worlds." :yay: Do I need to look into renting from Ken Price too?

If you don't mind my asking, who did you book through? :)

Thanks

Bonnet Creek is your closest option - they have full kitchens and are within the Disney main gate, but not "on property"....second closest I think it Vacation Village at Parkway, which is right next to Arabian Nights.

I don't know if you're doing an extra vacation with RCI or exchanging, but Vacation Village is super cheap right now through RCI for a 2-bedroom it's like $413 a week? A 2-bedroom at Bonnet Creek is going for $1205 a week through RCI...unless you can find an owner willing to let you rent at the point-fee maintenance fees level.

Not RMS, but we booked into 2-beroom at Bonnet Creek for two weeks through an owner for our upcoming vacation...and are paying the cost of the points used to book + the guest certificate, so we got a much better deal than going through RCI....bascially got the two weeks for what one week with RCI would have cost. If you're not an owner somewhere, thus don't have RCI, you can find rentals on either RedWeek.com or Timeshare Users Group (TUG)....usually around the cost of maintenance fees for the week you want if it's available.

ETA: If you do go with a private owner, on a site like RedWeek, you should only give a deposit so teh owner can make the ressie and then make the remaining payment AFTER you have been given a confirmation number and are able to call to confirm with the resort...most owners will do that and accept payment through paypal, and paypal protects you as a buyer so if the rental doesn't go as planned and you don't get a confirmation to be able to call the resort after you send money, you can get it back!
