Ok I am am going through ghost withdrawl. I find when I go to play ghosts at night I can hardly move in the games let alone steer LOL Then all of a sudden every ghost looks like the comedy routine of the 3 stooges in fast mode.
From not moving to zoom zoom

This is not fun to play anymore. So this is what I am asking:

Is it because I am running norton anti virus and if so how do I disconnect it while in VMK

Or could it be my cable provider and if so how do I tell if the connection is good. This I think is cable provider and there are three computer on at the same time.

But usually only one connected to internet at a time. I know there are some computer genius' out there could you send me in the right direction. If my son is downloading could this also effect speed.

Also I noticed in the river rides I stop and start if that helps.

Looking for some advice. Lonely in my room because I can come and play at the mansion
Thanks Littlebelle :(

Hey Belle... I'm also a mansion addict and I find this happening every so often at night too :(. It's crazy to watch and so darn frustrating!! It's almost like my person is walking down the aisle at a wedding LOL! Take a step, then stop...take a step, then stop -- GR!! Then all of a sudden...there she is all the way to the other end of room and ghosted! I don't think the problem is on my end because it doesn't happen all the time and other people also experience the problem when I am.

Hope this makes you feel a little better :).

I have this problem too sometimes. Sometimes it helps to clear out all your temporary files and cookies and reboot your pc.

Try that and see if it helps you.

Sorry to here of your problems Belle. We have missed you down at the mansion. We have experience a little sluggishness the last few days as well as jumping but for the most part it is functional. Nothing like when it opened. I will tell you that if a computer is downloading while you are trying to play any of the games it will have an effect. It takes of a big part of the band width to do this, and will slow the game. For some time big games with 6-8 players can be very odd due to varring computer speeds and such it really makes for an interesting game but if you are on the slow end of the spectrum it probably isn't as much fun and may cause crashes. (now way more technical then i can back up so tech person will need to explain furthur)

Hey Belle,

I've been having that problem since Day 1 of playing Ghosts. Now you know why you and everyone else manages to sweep the floor with me in the games.

Nice to hear it is happening to you now. Care to have a game. :lmao:

(oh, and break your mouse too..that will help me win too)

ok so i have a question for you: how old is your computer?? because my old computer was absolutely horendous even to play vmk, and it was because of my extremely out-of-date hard drive. so:

is your computer old, as in 3-4 years, or a little newer??? and also, if you find a sticker on your computer that should have some numbers on it. if you could find a number and a little caption that says "hard drive" that would be even better if you could tell me that number. i am a little good at computers, and i know that if the "hard drive" number is very low, that is you #1 problem. if you have a hard drive number higher than 150, idk what the problem is. anything lower, that is the problem.

it could also be memory. if your computer is LOADED with games, pictures, etc., then that could be a major issue as well.

and also just in case you didn't know, i wouldn't run ANYTHING but vmk when you are on it if your computer goes slow. additional things like AIM, other internet accesses, e-mails, etc. would really slow everything down for you.

i hope i helped a little bit!

there could be many problems... one u need to clean ur C drive. or try defragmating run. *WARNING* if u haven't defraged ur computer for a long time it is going to take a long time ( and when i say long time i mean days possibly a week) or do a virus sacn. also it could be spyware and and u can find anit-spyware on the internet. or ur comoputer is to old and to slow. and finally u could have a bad internet connection. so yea

Don't worry about defragmenting your hard drive. Defragmenting has a very small chance of improving speed a very small bit, and also a very small chance of screwing up a hard drive extremely badly. Fifteen years ago when hard drives were much slower, defragging was sometimes useful, but not any more.

To make your Windows PC play VMK more smoothly:

- Make sure your computer's antivirus protection is up-to-date. Run a full virus scan.
- Make sure the antispyware is up-to-date. If you don't have antispyware, go to Microsoft.com and install Windows Defender for free.
- Make sure Windows is up-to-date. Run Windows Update (in the Start menu) and make sure you have all the critical patches installed.
- Quit all other open programs. Quit everything out of your tray (in the lower-right of the screen - right click on an icon and select Quit or Exit if it gives you that option).

Check to make sure your net connection is fast. Try the CNet Bandwidth Meter speed test. Any speed beyond dialup should be all right.

If nothing else helps, you may want to add more memory to your computer to help it run faster. Go to Start -> Control Panels, then open the System control panel; it'll tell you how much memory is in your computer. For Windows XP, you want at *least* 256MB. Having 512MB is much more comfortable.

Ok I know I have an uptodate computer it is a Apsire 3003 WLCi. Mobile AMD semron processor 3000+
80 GB HD D
512MB DDR
Also 802.22b/g wireless LAN

I have tried everything. The ghosts move fine but the rest of the players on my screen also lag. My son thinks may Disney is improving the game and have put and older version on and the people with super computers are doing ok but the ones with good or less than good are having problems. I have closed all programs and only have one browers open the VMK game.

So I am at my witts end. Last ghost game I manage 4 ghosts. Now that is just not accepted credit earning.

I have more then 3/4 available on the hard drive so that can not be it. I downloaded a new shock wave. My connect speed it not great but 285 kb.

So any more suggestions thanks

Littlebelle crying in a corner cause she can not play no more :(

Hmmm I don't really have anything to add to everyone else's advice, but I feel your pain :) My little gal seems to enjoy jumping around the Mansion lately and running through the ghosts but not actually catching any! In a full game the other night I only caught 5 ghosts the first round. I was so embarassed to call myself a Mansion addict!

About whether or not your son's downloading could affect it --- I have noticed that if me and someone else in my house are downloading files simultaneously --- especially if they're from slow sites themselves, it tends to be slower... so maybe it has the same affect on an online game being run at the same time? I'm not a computer/Internet expert so I can't say for sure.

I hope you can join us in the Mansion again soon! :grouphug:

This tells me the problem's your net connection, not your computer's speed.

You said there are three computers on at the same time at your home. Try shutting down two of them and turning them off, and see if the third is still slow on VMK.

If the problem persists, call your ISP and ask for their help checking your connection speed and diagnosing your PC for what might be eating up your bandwidth.

Aha - something else, too - you said you have a wireless network. That can often be a problem; sudden interference (like, from a cordless phone or a microwave oven) can screw up a wireless connection. Try connecting your PC directly with a networking cable, and see if that helps.

If not slower, then totally non-existent! LOL Monkey and I (in same house) cannot play together in the same game with anyone else but ourselves!! We've tried many times, but we both end up crashing out browsers! :confused3 Can you say ARRRGGG! pirate:

speaking from expierence I have dial up not cable and when I added more memory I now have 768 megs and that has made a world of difference in my game performance!

I also use Nortons and would under no circumstances turn it off!

I am hit way too many times by Trojans to do that esp at this time of year!

This thread made for good reading... - runs to computer to try all of these suggestions -

Downloading does slow down VMK alot.
At night there are about 4k players in vmk where during the day there is about 1-2k try to play during the day and see if there is a difference.
you connection speed of 285kb is slow.
mine at home is about 1.5mbps.
you computer should be fine just make sure nobody is downloading while you playing vmk and see about upgrading your connection.
