Need cell phone company suggestions...please HELP!

I have HAD it with Verizon...every month for over a year now I've had to call because they made errors on my bill! I dropped my phone in the toilet a few months back and paid for a phone at the retail price ($300!) and they RESIGNED my contract without permission as an upgrade! That took a month to straighten out...they've also removed features from my account without permission, changed my rate plan without informing me, added Vcast on several occasions...and you know what the service rep told me? "We make mistakes, no cell phone company is perfect." I agree with that, but when it's month after month it gets to be ridiculous. Last month we had overages (our fault) and I paid $150 for it....this month I still had overages even though we only used 700 of our 1000 minutes. She told me it's because I went to the next city over from me on the second to last day of my bill cycle, and that city is on a different billing system, so I had "delayed usage charges"...$20 worth. It's only $20, but it's the principle. I already paid my fee last month, I see NO reason why I should have to pay more money this billing cycle when we didn't go over. So I really want to switch carriers. I'm so fed up with Verizon that I'm paying the $500 it'll cost to do it. :furious: I had Nextel about 2 years ago and hated them, but I guess the phone (i830) I had with them was recalled, so the service might be better. Does anyone have a cell phone carrier they absolutely love? I've been comparing them and see benefits to a few different carriers. I live in Boston if anyone is from the Mass area that gets great reception with a specific phone company, but I'd love to hear opinions from everyone. Thanks for letting me rant!

Sorry can't help but I switched from Cingular to Verizon last year and I've yet to have aproblem with Verizon. Cingular - HORRIBLE. Bad service, bad customer service, errors in bills, sending two bills at once, etc.

I love verizon and love that most everyone I know has it so calls are free.

I also live in the suburban Boston area. We have been counting the days until our Cingular contract is up so we can GO BACK TO VERIZON! :rotfl:

We got the Cingular deal through AAA and instead of our bill being lower every month as it was supposed to be, it went up, and nobody either at AAA or Cingular cared a rat's butt! :furious: We also can barely complete a call without a dropped signal at least once, often several times per call. It's frustrating. They will also stop your service if you are late paying your bill (as happened to me when I left my completed bill in my work bag by accident), then charge you $36 to turn it back on. The only good thing is the rollover minutes, but we can live without them. I just want out of the contract ASAP.

So pretty soon we'll go back to Verizon, where we were very happy for a long time.

Seriously, I am not trying to defend them, but I think your statement is totally false.

That is so completely insulting. Upon a search, I came up with article after article about call centers located in India and Sprint was on the list.
Oh, and England isn't the "mother country" of India. They colonized it. Big difference.

Not worth arguing this one... seriously. However, if you do searches, you will see some outsourcing they did with some companies is now being eliminated.

I know that the UK doesn't run India, but those who learn English use it in a British type accent... kind of cute actually.

I can just say that I speak with Americans... then again I deal with the stores more in person, but I'd love to know if they taught some people to say "axe" for "ask" and then others just "ask" or not? That's something I can tell ya if someone faked a couple accents (which I couldn't understand as well) they had to watch certain movies to get that dead on. It was stuff they wouldn't teach because it wasn't an "average american" sound.

I was wrong with saying "totally false" with it. I do know that some things are US based and some things are not.

I did a lot with Sprint with my job and between them and MCI, I thought those two were the best that had cell phone carriers.

Truthfully Verizon has always been the worst to deal with and in all my years with telecom I could never use them again personally.

I used to work for a company that was outsourced by Sprint, we did the number porting (moving number from one carrier to another). I can tell you that more and more of Sprints customer service is now in Manila in the Phillipines.

I've been with Sprint for too many years, I can't recommend them. From working in the business, I would say that Verizon is the best although most expensive and Tmobil are the nicest.

That said, we are about to change our providers and are seriously considering Cingular, mostly for the rollover minutes.

Wow! We just signed up with Cingular today. My hubby insisted.

I guess that it got good and bad reviews. I'll try not to worry too much.
I think we have 30 days to opt out.
