DD just turned 9 months and is so tall, her feet hang over the edge of the infant car seat. I will probably be buying a new one by Friday, which we will take on the plane when she is 1 year old. Does anyone have suggestions on a good one? I don't have a large car (Toyota Corrola), so I guess my choices are limited. Thanks!

Will a Britax fit in your vehicle? If so, that's what I'd recommend. :)

I second the Britax. I've used both the Roundabout for my older child, and now have a Marathon for my DS 2. The Marathon is a GREAT seat!! It's pretty big, but I don't think you'd have a problem with it in a Corrola. It will hold a child up to 60lbs, so it will last until the child is ready for a booster seat. My DS 2 is 34 inches tall, and still has plenty of growing room. I think this seat will last until he's 4 and ready for a booster. Give it a look!!

I'm in the UK, so I can't recommend a model, but Britax are a great company and they are the most highly regarded carseats over here.

one thing to mention is that at 9 months your baby should still be rearward facing, so you want to get a model that can be used rearward for a few more months and then turned to face forward when your baby reaches the correct weight for that.

I love my Evenflo Triumph. It's not very small, but it is high up, so when people sit next to him in the back seat (he's in the center), they have plenty of room because their legs fit under the seat. It's sort of a pod shape.

The Britax didn't work for us. Jacob is very tall, especially through the torso, and at 6 months, he's just a small growth spurt away from his head extending over the top. But he outgrew his infant carrier at 3 months, so it doesn't sound like your baby is that tall.

Just a suggestion, but see if you can try out whatever carseat you plan to purchase while you are still in the parking lot of the store. It seems that some carseats don't fit right when you are using them rear facing (which is until one year). When my daughter was rear facing, I had a chevy cavalier (small car) and none of the car seats we tried were too big for the car but some just didn't seem to fit on the seat as well as others. We bought and returned 4 seats before finding one that I felt fit my seats the best. My girlfriend had the same problem in her minivan. I think some seats are just at a different angle than others. Once you turn the car seat foward facing, it seems to not be as much of a problem.

i have an evenflo triumph V (actually i have 2) and love it and highly recommend it, but man, i was NOT going to lug it thru the airport and on the plane!

i got a cosco touriva for $30 from kmart specifically for travel (we bought him a seat on the plane and we rent cars), it is extremely light, and quite narrow. when we're not traveling i install it in my mom's car. :)

Add me to the list of Britax Roundabout lovers. This is a great seat and is a snap to install, even rear-facing.

Anybody tried the Britax Husky? We need a larger carseat that can be used by an almost 4 year old. The motorhome doesn't have lap and shoulder belts in the dinette so a regular booster won't work--need one with the 5-point harness. Can't find this locally to try so I'll probably have to order online.

Another vote for Britax! We don't have a large car either (Honda Accord) and we have two Britax Roundabouts in the back seat.

I love love love my cosco alpha omega. get it with the 5 point harness (it also comes with the over the head bar thing) for an easier fit on the plane. It later converts to a boosterseat. make sure any seat you buy is FAA approved for flight.
