Hello folks - I haven't been around the boards recently as I didn't think we'd be back to Disney for a while! Well it seems like I have a business trip to Orlando June 13-16 so I'm thinking that my DH and 2 kids (8 & 5) will fly down on the Thurs June 16 and we'll stay until Mon June 20. We have been to Disney at least 6 times, but always in low season of September. Plus I've usually spent a year planning things out! But I'm panicing a little as I know the ticket options have changed since our last visit and right now the Air Canada prices from Toronto are a little high (~$470/person) and I hear hotel occupancy is high.

Has anyone travelled around mid June and have any advice about crowds, weather, onsite hotels, airline options (can only fly out of Toronto), and how to think about park ticket options now? Thanks, Jo

You're flying out of TO but what about your hubby and kids flying out of Buffalo?
I've been mid May and crowds were okay. June is hot and school is out in the southern states I believe so more crowds but it wouldn't be like holiday crowds though like Easter or Christmas.
Ticket options can be what ever you want. Do you want all days in the park then get a 5 day hopper and you can g ofrom the moment the kids arrive until you leave.

You said you've been 6 times before but have you stayed onsite? or are you just asking about availability. I've found the Values will go the quickest but there are always cancelations. Just start calling and asking what's available on the dates you want to go. You can always cancel the room later can you not?

We're flying down on WestJet...$149 each way...with taxes we are paying $1800.00 for 4 of us. They fly into Orlando or Tampa.

Hi Jo

Hey, I did the same thing with my family in June of 2003 and we're going again this June thanks to my work and a business trip. This year my conference is at the Marriott World Conference Centre(?) about a mile east of Disney. However in 2003 and this year we'll stay at the Swan/Dolphin and I'll travel by car rental to the conference. My conference is from June 5-8th so we're taking some extra days and staying from May 29th to June 9th. A reallly nice family vacation for my DW, DS5 and DD1.

Anyway we were lucky as my flight is paid for by my work and my dad let us use his airmiles for my DW and DS on Air Canada. You could look at WestJet as they are flying from YYZ to MCO now. Also many people have mentioned that driving to Buffalo and flying out there can be really cheap.

As for hotels you may want to check out www.dreamsunlimited.com. We used them in 2003 and they were awesome and got us a great rate with no problem with vacancies. They do Disney property rooms and Disney packages as well as Swan/Dolphin property rooms. The nice thing about Dreams Unlimited is if a discount code comes out they automatically apply it to your reservation. This happened to us where we got an email from our agent saying they lowered our rate. Cool! It also may be of advantage for you to get CAA. This can get you some discounts as well. This year we got a great rate at the Dolphin from a code at the Allearsnet.com site. Check out this site for details Allearsnet Swan/Dolphin Discount Code Page . The Swan/Dolphin is an awesome deluxe resort right beside the BC/YC, Boardwalk and Epcot.

The weather in June is hot. However if you take lots of water, sunscreen and hats you'll be fine. Being onsite also allows you to head back to the resort for a rest in the afternoon and to head back again at night. We found June to be busy as its when most of the US schools close for summer holidays for the kids. However I think July and August would be worse.

Jo, I hope I've helped. If you have any questions just ask or send me a private message.

Andy

Hey Jo-Anne! Nice to hear from you again!

We went the first week of June in '02. Boy, was it hot! It was bearable but we definately had to plan for it. Lots of water, "squeeze-breezes" (those water fan misters) hats, and definately PS's for lunch so we could get in out of the heat. I don't remember the crowds being too bad. The Southern states - Georgia anyway - finishes school May 25th

If you can do it, I'd try to stay onsite. This way you can go back to the hotel for a afternoon swim at the height of the heat.

Have fun!
