I have just been informed that Wed nt. is game night at our house. We have the game Taboo but I need to get one more. There will be about 10 people playing, ages preteen to senior. Any ideas?

All the scene it games are great and there are several versions out now. We also really like scategories and trivial pursuit 90's pop culture.

My favorite all time game, Apples to Apples. It is more like a card game. There are two versions, one for younger kids seven and up and one for older kids through adults. We actually have the one for younger kids and everyone plays, even my 75 year old mom.

Four to ten people can play. We find every hand is different and unlike other games, the cards don't become old, there is no need to purchase additional cards.

We like Caddoo and some of the others but once you have been through all the cards, you need to get a new set.

I noticed in today's Target ad that this game is $19.99, a good price. I have
only seen it at a specialty store (for more $$) and Target.

I agree the Scene it games are fun I also like the DVD trival pursuit

Ok I don't know what happened to my reply.

We host a lot of game nights. Cranium, Scene It and Trivial Pursuit are always big hits. So is Scategories

The pop culture and 90's editions of Trivial Pursuit are not as difficult or obscure as the 'regular' editions.

I think the family fun edition of Cranium has questions for both younger players and adults.

ETA: we also play in teams. In your situation we would probablly do 2 teams of 5. That makes it easier on the kids if some of the questions are out of their age range. Cranium is a team game so that one always works out well. Individual play is hard to do in a group situation and so are tournaments because people knocked out can get bored.

You could also do group card games...Poker, Spite and Malice, Tripoly or a dice game like Bunco

When we have a crowd we always play Pictionary and Scatagories. You can split up into two teams...both are a lot of fun but Pictionary is our favorite!

Balderdash is a blast, also, you can get a set of dominoes and learn to play Chicken Foot. Trivial Pursuit can be played in teams too.

I LOVE Guesstures. It's a charades type game. We play it every Thanksgiving and it's a riot.

We love Pictionary ~ some of the best laughs I've had came from trying to decipher what my mother draws.

We used to have a game night at my old church. One of the favorites was Jenga. Several can play at one time. It's easy to learn and is fairly quick so people can take turns.

Cranium is a hoot. They have a regular version and a childs version that is really fun too. We've done the childs version with DD9, but the regular on is a blast.

I also agree with Beyond Baulderdash or Uno Attack.

For that many people, Scattergories is the best! We have so much fun playing this game - it's an even bigger riot when you're drinkin'! :teeth:

Card games are big at our family gatherings.

Skip-Bo, Uno, used to play Rook some. Sometimes they'll get a couple of tables of Pitch going. I've jsut started to learn the last year or so (meaning I've played at two separte family things almost a year apart).

Trivial Pursuit can be played in teams.

Others that we play:
Sequence
Sorry
Trouble
yahtzee
Parchesi (sp?)

Our favorites:
Disney Trivia
Disney Charades (or any other charades game)
Scatagories
Pictionary
Beyond Balderdash

We have so many good games, (probably well over 50) that it's hard to pick the best of the best, but...

IMO, the best for groups are, Scattergories, Outburst, Malarky, Pictionary, and Guesstures (VERY FUN GAME). We love our Disney Trivia games (we have 3 if you count the Disney Charades), but I'm not sure how non Disney fans would like those? We also have 2 different Cranium games, but for some reason, neither are even open. LOL

I must have missed out on Balderdash. I'll have to either go thru our games and see if we have it. If not, it looks like Santa will have to pick it up for us. Aside from Disney, none of us have every really liked trivia games. It just seems that no matter which one you play, someone always has the advantage.

Oh, let's not forget to include Twister. :rotfl:
