Hey everyone -- I have been asked to help plan a cruise vacation for a friend and her family. Here's the scenario:

They want to leave on a 7 day on March 19, 2005

There are 7 adults and 8 kids [all little kids, 5 and under]

We have grandma and grandpa and a couple of kids in one room

Mom and dad and a couple of kids in a room

One single and her child in a room [that should be easy]

And one couple [that is also easy]

HOWEVER --- seven of the children belong to mom and dad -- all under 5 [triplets, and two sets of twins]. That's right, you read it right!

So, now I am looking for logistics. What would you do?

wow, I'd get a travel agent to plan all that...

Mom and dad with the 7 kids and grandma and grandpa are going to have to split up more then they think, since it's 11 people--they are going to have to get at least 3 staterooms, and that's getting 2 that sleep 4, and one that sleeps 3.

But keep in mind that the staterooms that sleep 4 include the upper birth, which might not be appropriate for the very young children, and you mentioned they are all under 5, so with 7 kids.. I am guessing some might be very young. Are they all sleeping in beds yet?

The other challenge will be that you need two full-fare adults per stateroom, and since they will need 3 rooms, one of the very young kids will be counted as an adult.

It's complicated.. with a party that huge, she needs a travel agent, they can find which rooms sleep 4 and which sleep less, which are ajoining, can see if rooms are available directly accross the halls from each other.

Tell your friend to look into TA's to get the ressie, and you can help her plan what to do via the DIS boards.

Here is one suggestion (if you are trying to save $$$):

Mom and Dad (with the seven kids) should occupy connecting cabins (CAT 10) and better. That family of nine can sleep in those two cabins, even though "officialy" on the reservations the kids will be distributed differently.

On our cruises (both times as family re-unions of 21+) we slept 5 in our CAT-6 (even though it officially only sleeps 4)

Book 5 cabins: 2 that sleep 4, 1 sleeping 3, the 4th and 5th sleeping 2.

On paper:

Cabin 1 - Mom + Kid 1, Kid 2, and Kid 3 (one kid will be charged as an adult)

Cabin 2 - Connecting to 1 - Dad + Kid 4, Kid 5, Kid 6 (one kid will be charged as an adult)

Cabin 3 - Grandma and Grandpa + 1 Kid of Mom and Dad

Cabin 4 - Single + Child (child will be charged as an adult)

Cabin 5 - one couple

If the couple will pair up the the Single + child, you can get by with one less cabin (a third cabin that sleeps 4).

My $0.02

whoa, I'm dizzy!! :scratchin

sounds like GenieDana has it figured out :wizard:

If you're saving money and can work together, you might think about two connecting category 6's with two or three category 11's across the hall if you're booking far enough in advance to have some selection.

That way the whole group could enjoy the verandahs and the rooms would be close together.

Get my tubes tied!!! That is so frightening! :earseek: :faint: Triplettes and twins. Maybe I wont go off the pill....

Sorry my internal monolouge took over....

I assume the twins are the younger pair. If Grama & Grandpa are up to it, I say put the twins with them, Keep the Triplettes with Mom and Dad.

Or, May be get a two bedroom, and put the kids in one bedroom, mom and dad on the fold out couch and grandma and grampa in the other room.

Good Luck!
