Need bed sheet recommendations!!!

For years I've bought the typical cotton bed sheets from Walmart. But I was so sick and tired of them "pilling up". I cannot stand to sleep in a bed where the sheet are pilled. GROSS!!! A friend told me about "sateen" sheets. I've bought a couple sets and really don't care for them (DH even told me last night that he hates them and wants regular cotton ones back) He hates flannel ones in winter too.

I've heard that the higher count you go, the better they are. Do the higher counts still "pill"? My SIL also swears by Egyptian Cotton sheets. WTH is that? Plus, I've also seen Northern Nights on QVC. Heard many positive things about those too. Anyone have those? Thing is though, I can't really see paying a million dollars for a set of sheets (I have a King sized bed too)

Any suggestions?

I like Lands End or LL Bean sheets: they are comfortable, durable, and they fit the deep mattresses. Not cheap but not out of this world either. I have purchased sateen, percale and flannel types...all have been good. While higher thread count is good, it isn't the only criteria for good sheets.

I buy 300-400+ TC count sheets anywhere I can get them. I like the Egyptian Cotton ones as well. They are much softer after a few washes and they don't pill. I haven't pilly sheets in ages. I get them at Khols, their house brand is nice, or any place really. I tend to rotate the same two sets so they get washed a lot which makes them softer.

Watch the Kohls sale and try a set. They aren't that expensive. I refuse to spend an arm and leg on bed sheets.

I have Egyptian cotton sheets on my bed. I forget the thread count but it is probably in the medium range. I think around 500 or so. These are the softest cotton sheets I have ever had! We got them at JC Penney over a year ago and still no pilling. They put the on sale all the time so I just watch for the sale to buy them. They were around $40 on sale. So not bad in price either.

Higher thread counts are important but you need to get 100% cotton sheets. If you are having problems with the sheets pilling there is some poly in them. I get most of our sheets on clearance at Target or Kmart and they don't pill and are very soft. I think the most recent ones I bought are 350 thread count bamboo sheets. They are very comfy. I have some 100% cotton ones from Lands End that are more crisp vs soft so if that is what you want try those. If you want a softer sheet try the bamboo or Egyptian Cotton.

We got a set of 1200 thread count sheets from Overstock probably about 5 years ago and they still look brand new when they come out of the dryer. Unfortunately, with the high thread counts, your choices of colors are really limited.

Love, love, love the Northern Nights sheets from QVC. I'm on my second set now. My first set lasted around five years, only set I used, washed and put back on the bed. The only reason they messed up is I have kittens that liked to scratch on them and put some holes in them.

Now I have my second set and it's around 700 thread count, so very soft and gets softer as I wash them.

We recently bought 100% modal sheets at Bed, Bath Beyond.

OMG they are fantastic. I am so picky about sheets and softness and these were soft after the first wash...I mean silky soft.
I love them and would recommend them to anyone. I usually spend about $150 for a new sheet set and I think these were only about $60ish....another great thing.

they do tend to stretch out a bit after a few days...but they wash and dry nicely.

We bought some very nice sheets from JCPenney, the designer name brand that they carry... I forget his name now...

They are nice, thick heavy sheets... a LOT of cotton fiber, and they are soft when run thru an extra rinse with downey, but they WRINKLE.... I have heard that some Egyption cottons will wrinkle very badly.

I don't want 'silky' sheets...
I want cotton-soft, but not silky, as in thin fabric with a deep/heavy drape... I want thick buttery cotton... kind of like these sheets we have from Penneys, but without the wrinkle!!!

I bought a set of 300 TC cotton sateen sheets from Meijer's a couple days ago. I washed and dried them and already do not like them. They came out very wrinkled. I'm not one who irons sheets. I prefer to have them come out of the dryer without wrinkles.

I have a 40% off coupon for Penneys catalog, maybe I should order a set of Egyptian cotton sheets from there and give them a try.
