Our 11th anniversary is sandwiched between our 10-12 and 10-19 Magic cruises. It is the 19th.
I am trying to come up with ideas. I thought about the anniversary decorations in the gifts ahoy brochure, but they want $30 for what looks like 3 decorations. They have a basket with champagne, chocolate and a picture frame for $54. I don't know that I want that. I don't need the frame and I can bring my own champagne.
Does anyone have any ideas?????

How about booking the Surial or a couples cabana massage on castaway cay? You could even send Hubby on a scavenger type hunt until he comes up to the 'prize'.
:D

DH's mom had sent us a btl of champagne on our last cruise --- way too much $$ - but was a nice surprise.

so, we're bringing a 4 pack travel box of wine/champagne with us --- corking chg @ dinner $15.00 - which is still probably less expensive than buying btl on board, if u don't mind lugging it on with carry on.

there are other 'gift' delivery places (someone named shirley i see mentioned about these posts).

Yes, Shirley at <a href="http://www.theperfectgift.cc"><font color=blue><i>The Perfect Gift</i></font></a> can tailor a gift basket that has <i><b>exactly</b></i> what you want. Take a look at her web site (<a href="http://www.theperfectgift.cc"><font color=blue>www.theperfectgift.cc</font></a>) to get some ideas, but use that only as a starting point. You'll want to call her on her toll-free # to discuss with her exactly what you want.

I would order a customized basket from Shirley and do his and her massages or the surial bath, and plan on dinner at Palos that night.

Keep the ideas coming.
I thought about calling Shirley. I just haven't done it yet.
I can't do the surial unless you can do it without steam. The steam kicks up my asthma and I can't breathe.
DH would never do a massage! Can I do one for each of us? ;)

A special treat I did for my parent's 40th Anniversary was putting up some very fun decorations. It only cost me $30 at Michael's. here is what you need (and they pack very easy)
  1. Roll of tulle (about 10 yards)
  2. white wedding/christmas lights (x2)
  3. strand of pearls (about 5 yards)
  4. small flower sprays to put in the corners (mix flowers with an ivy cascade) (x3)
  5. white stars on wire strand (x2)
  6. removable hook (x6)
  7. extention cord
    [/list=1]

Once you get in your cabin, double up or triple up the tulle, lay it down on the lights and pearls and twist them loosely together. Space the hooks around the bedroom on the wood molding near the ceiling. Drape the tulle and lights on the hooks and plug it in at the desk outlet.

Each night the CM would turn down the bed and plug in the lights for them. The flower sprays I used were the flowers in their wedding. To top it off, I also bought fabric rose petals and sprinkled them on the bed and entry way.

Each night I gave them some type of gift - lotion, tandem parasail trip, bon voyage dcl package, flowers from shirley's shop.

Also, some awesome gifts if you doing the Western would be the waverunner tour at Key West (It was Dynamite. A must for those adventurous guys and gals.) and the Red Baron Sailship to stingray city and reef snorkel.

    Good luck and Happy Anniversary

We're going on a sea/land cruise in 6 days for our anniversary... I decided to to something at WDW (the second half), 'cause I'm HOPING that hubby will do something for the cruise.

I took a photo mat (with the multiple cutouts), and wrote "Continuing the Magic... 5th Wedding Anniversary... Walt Disney World... Aug. 22 - 29, 2002" (in different spots on the mat). Then I sent it to a CM at the Grand Floridian, who got all of the "couples" of Disney to sign it! Mickey & Minnie, Donald & Daisy, all of the princesses and their princes, Tarzan and Jane, etc. (all but the princess & prince of It's a Bug's Life) :) Oh, and Goofy, too.

The CM said it was so full of signatures, you can barely tell what mat color it is!

Does anyone know if Shirley does, or has done in the past, room decorating? Like Denine said, DCL's decorations look skimpy. Anyone? Shirley?:)

I think i read a post from Shirley not too long ago that said that she used to decorate rooms, but now with security tightening up, they are not allowed on the ships to do this. I do think she offered to include decorations that you could do yourself however. Check with her.

:( Aww, that's too bad...see, I was hoping to hint to DH that I would like this done on our cruise, as it is going to be my birthday, but if he has to decorate himself, forget it! He is not the type to do something like that. I guess that idea is a no go. Oh, well, it's not like I'll be in the cabin a lot anyways!:)

While I'm not a big fan of the replacements for magical treasures, I don't think the room decorations are such a bad deal. Remember, they will decorate the room with them, not leave them lying in a cello wrap on the bed--or at least that's my understanding. Since staterooms aren't exactly enormous, IMHO that may be just enough decorating to make the room light up. Anyway, it clearly shows you planned ahead. Just have Shirley add the champagne basket, and you're all set.

no more visitors on board, which includes the nice people who used to decorate your room ... (my understanding (unless your cabin steward/ess are really kind)

Yes, you can do it without the steam. You still get to body-paint each other and then shower it off.

Hey there - Isn't it fun trying to come up with ideas for romance - guess I am still a "think young" person that is into it also - once a upon a time as the story begins - we were allowed to decorate the rooms - it wasn't a very welcomed idea, but we were - after 9-11, we are lucky to get as close as we do - I still love the romantic basket and I like the idea of getting the room decorated, but from what I see - there isn't too much done but then the young help has to do it in their most busy time - this is not knocking the help, cause these kids put their heart unto it - every so often I gather a bunch and take them down to the mall so they can get their sea legs back on ground - anyhow if I can help, you can call the shop - you are getting excellent advise here - also you can send stuff to the shop, and we will make it up for you -
Have a wonderful time and let us know how it turned out.
Always
Shirley
