We built a house 9 years ago and at that time bought Frigidaire appliances, 9 years later 4 of them need to be replaced, the only thing that doesn't need to be replaced in the fridge which is a kitchenaid which we no longer like the style of - side by side. Looking for any suggestions for anything you LOVE or anything we should definitely STAY AWAY from - Frigidaire is currently the top of that list. I hate our front loader washing machine, the dryer is on it's very last leg and is making a horrific noise and the dishwasher is officially dead and after hand washing for 5 days that's the top of my list. I'd also love a dishwasher with the garbage disposal built in looking for recommends on that.

I hate, hate, hate my Jenn-Aire appliances. When we moved 8 years ago we decided to buy "top of the line" appliances. I have had issues with every one of them.

I really miss my old Kitchen-Aide appliances so much! I'll definitely be buying Kitchen-Aide next tme.

Good luck!

The washer and dryer should still be under warranty.

I've been buying Samsung and I love them so far. I have a gas range/convection oven and French Door fridge. They are both new in the last few months but I've been happy with both so far.

We have all frigidaire in our new house since the owners left the appliances for us, and I'm not a big fan. My mom has a Samsung french door fridge which I am enviously eyeing. We do have a GE washer and dryer, I believe the Cabrio set, and I do really like those. They do take a long time, but I've been happy with them. My mom also just got a Maytag dishwasher and it is stunningly quiet. We ate Christmas dinner at the table right next to it as it was running and I didn't even know it was on.

I recently replaced all but my dishwasher (a Bosch) with LG black stainless steel.

I wanted a French door fridge with water and ice thru the door. It has split shelves, so I can have them set at two different levels on each side of the fridge. There is a separate drawer that can have the temp set to refrigerator temps, freezer temp or it can be used as a beverage chiller. The freezer has three levels with 2 shallow shelves that slide back and forth above the deeper freezer bin. It makes it easier to find smaller packages that normally tend to fall to the bottom of a freezer drawer. The one negative that I can cite about this fridge is the utility drawers. There are 3, so to get to the one in the middle, you must open both French doors. And the drawers are not very deep, due to the fact that this is a counter-depth fridge. The end result is a vegetable crisper and fruit bin that you cannot store much in. In fact, a bunch of celery is too long to fit in any of the bins! Two longer bins would have been better than 3 small bins.

The microwave is an above range model. It has a hood for the vent that can be extended above the front burners below. The vent works much better than the one on the Kenmore that it replaced. It has several automatic settings and came with a metal rack that can be used to "stack" dishes to heat at the same time.

The range is a dual oven electric model with 5 burners. Flat, glass top. It is a challenge to keep it clean but nowhere near as awful as trying to clean a spill up from the old burners and drip pans. The upper oven is smaller but gets the most use. The lower oven has a convection option. It's so nice to have 2 separate ovens for those times I'm preparing a large meal with items that need different oven temperatures. The ovens both brown more evenly than my old, builder's grade range did. Having that 2nd oven meant giving up the storage drawer beneath the oven. I had to re-home all of my baking pans and cookie sheets. The glass top also means that some pots and pans that I have can no longer be used. There's a "hot surface" indicator for each of the burners, but if you have small children, it can be a hazard. The surface doesn't look hot even though it is.

Personally, I don't care for dishwashers with a built in grinder. I find them to be too noisy. My Bosch has a filter for large particles and I just remove/clean it after each wash cycle. My sister just bought a new dishwasher and she took several pieces of her everyday china and glassware into the store to check how they will fit. She ended up changing her mind about her first choice based on that visit.

Whatever you choose, make sure that you have whatever it takes to have the installation done. My appliances were delivered only to learn that my existing range was hardwired to the electric line. The delivery men were not qualified to put in a wall socket, so I had to wait until my brother-in-law could come over to complete the installation for me.

I have Kenmore appliances (came with the house) and won't recommend or not recommend them however, my dishwasher has a stainless steel interior and it is the BEST dishwasher I have ever had, so whatever brand you decide that's my recommendation, get a dishwasher with a stainless steel interior.

Our appliances are all 7 years old and we haven't had problem with any of them. We have a Bosch dishwasher I love, it's so quiet. Samsung French Door fridge. GE Profile stove and Whirlpool Duet washer and dryer.

We just bought a Samsung Washer/Dryer set and LOVE them. We got the top loader No agitator/High Efficiency washer and it has been great. We also have a Samsung Dishwasher that we really like. It has the stainless interior and does a great job on the dishes. Our other appliances are Kenmore and I can't complain about them, they have been fine, but nothing great about them.

Our house came with GE profile appliances and I have been pretty happy with them. The exception is the washer/dryer which is Whirlpool. I am not a fan and wish I still had my LG washer/dryer set, but my mom convinced me to give it to my sister when we moved because the house I bought came with the existing Whirlpool set.

We just replaced all our kitchen appliances in October. I couldn't find exactly what I wanted in any one brand so we ended up going with several. Its all stainless though so it still looks great.

Fridge. We really liked our Frigidaire side by side but it was 14 years old and since we were going with stainless we decided just to do the fridge too. I don't like French door, so we did another side by side. It is slightly larger than the old one, but other wise pretty similar. I really like the Smudge proof stainless. The ice maker is HORRIBLE on this model and that was one of the most important things for me so I am disappointed. The fridge was about 1/3 the cost of the French door models that are all the rage right now and looks great though.

Stove. We also had a Frigidaire smooth top electric range. The oven door was cracked and no longer held a temp. We had a gas line from when the house was built but I grew up with electric and was a very novice cook at the time so stayed with electric. We ended up getting a LG double oven gas range with 5 burners in stainless. I absolutely adore the double oven. We mainly use the smaller top oven but I like the bigger convection oven for baking. The super burners are nice and it came with a griddle (although I wish that burner was stronger). The only thing I dislike is the control panel (minor) and since it was a double oven we lost the drawer for storage which required some cabinet rearranging.

Microwave. Replaced our GE over the range with a similar one just in stainless. Its fine. Microwaves are microwaves to me.

Dishwasher. We had a Maytag that was on its last legs. I wanted something that had hidden top controls (my little one is notorious for messing with the dishwasher buttons) plus I like the look. I liked the smudge proof stainless of the Frigidaire but it got bad ratings for the noise. I loved the 3rd rack feature on the LG but we felt the baskets were super flimsy. We ended up with the GE Dishwasher. I like the hidden top controls and stainless interior. It is very quiet. It takes FOREVER to run though and the stainless gets fingerprints very easily.

Stay away from Maytag. They are not like your mom's Maytags. Junk. The only good Maytag I owned was my stove and now it's starting to go (12years)

I love my Samsung French door, bottom freezer fridge. LOVE IT. I also have the Bosch 800 series dishwasher. So quiet which is necessary based on where the kitchen is in relation to the living room. It has a red light that shones on the floor so you know it's on, it's that quiet.

Love my Bosch dishwasher. I will never buy any other brand. I had a Samsung with the garbage disposal which seemed like a great idea. Overall, I really liked that dishwasher but had problems with it within 10 months of buying it. It was still under warranty at that point so they sent out a serviceman (the closest one was 90 minutes away -- and I live 45 minutes outside of a major city). The problem was a circuit board. He replaced it. And since the dishwasher was almost out of warranty, he checked a few other things that had a high failure rate and replaced those things for me as well. Very nice of him to do that -- all at no charge. Six months later, a part in the disposal went bad (no longer under warranty). Had a local repairman come out and fix that. $15 part, $150 labor (the whole unit had to be pulled out and dismantled to replace the part). Two months later, same problem. My husband fixed it that time. $4 part/2 hours of time. A few weeks later, same thing. We ended up replacing that part 2 more times in the next few months and then we finally gave up. Less than 2 years after buying this $800 (on sale) high-end dishwasher, we got rid of it and bought a Bosch. It frustrated me to get rid of a dishwasher that worked fabulously as long as that one little teenie tiny part in the disposal wasn't broken. I will never buy another dishwasher with a disposal in it. And as much as I loved how well the Samsung cleaned the dishes, the Bosch puts the Samsung to shame in that department.

We also have the french door Samsung refrigerator with the pull-out freezer drawer as well as the smaller pull-out refrigerator drawer (purchased during the ongoing drama with the dishwasher...we should have known better). I love this refrigerator. However, after having it exactly 10 days, the freezer stopped working. Serviceman came out and had to replace the entire cooling unit. Said it was a pretty common warranty call. Knock wood, that was 3 years ago and we haven't had problems since then. I absolutely love having a french door fridge with the ice and water in the door. I also love the separate refrigerator drawer. We keep most of our "grab & go" snacks/drinks in there so they're easily accessible and don't require digging around the refrigerator to find.

I will say that we won't buy any more Samsung appliances. The local appliance store owner told us he has stopped carrying Samsung appliances because they had such a high failure/repair rate. We had the department manager at our local Lowes store tell us the same thing -- that Samsung is great for electronics; not so great for appliances. He said he will never steer someone towards a Samsung appliance.

As for a stove, I have a fairly new (less than a year) Frigidaire Professional series range. It also functions as a convection oven. It has a huge interior and five burners (glass top). I really like it.

Microwave is a GE Profile above-the-range style. It also functions as a convection oven. I really like this microwave and it has held up well over the 4 or 5 years that we've had it.

What company warranties their appliances for 9 years?

Front loaders tend to have a 10 year warranty. Our LGs do. A quick Google search shows Maytag does too.

We've been in our house 11.5 years and our GE Profile appliances are still going strong (our house was brand new along with the appliances). We have never had a single problem with them. I do wish we had the French door refrigerator but I not going to run out a buy one until it is needed.

We just got a stainless steel (inside and out) Kitchenaid dishwasher in late Nov. I really like it. Our old one was DONE literally the night before we left for our Disney trip. LOL

We love our stainless French door/with lower freezer LG fridge. 11 years no issues. We know a few people with the same fridge same model and newer that are all happy. We are happy with Our LG TVs and washer/dryer. We however were not happy with our Kitchenaid electric stove and dishwasher. Multiple problems with both. The electrical panels both needed replacement amongst other things and early on too. The dishwasher now needs replacement.

Two years ago my Whirlpool washer and dryer broke after 10 years. I replaced them with LG front loaders and I have been very pleased with them so much so when our TV broke, we purchased an LG TV that has 3D. Very happy with TV choice. We will be moving this Spring/Summer and the only kitchen appliance I'm regretting leaving behind is my Bosch dishwasher. Love it! I also have a dual fuel Bosch stove and a Bosch microwave. Can't complain much about them. The only thing is with the stove, getting a burner fixed before we put house on market. I would definitely say stay away from Kenmore. Not only is their brand terrible, the Sears repair team is too. Had problems with my Kenmore fridge since day one. It's on it's last legs. Had Sears come out to take a look at it, said it can't be fixed and they don't make parts for it anymore. It's only 7 years old.
