We built a house 9 years ago and at that time bought Frigidaire appliances, 9 years later 4 of them need to be replaced, the only thing that doesn't need to be replaced in the fridge which is a kitchenaid which we no longer like the style of - side by side. Looking for any suggestions for anything you LOVE or anything we should definitely STAY AWAY from - Frigidaire is currently the top of that list. I hate our front loader washing machine, the dryer is on it's very last leg and is making a horrific noise and the dishwasher is officially dead and after hand washing for 5 days that's the top of my list. I'd also love a dishwasher with the garbage disposal built in looking for recommends on that.
I recently replaced all but my dishwasher (a Bosch) with LG black stainless steel.
I wanted a French door fridge with water and ice thru the door. It has split shelves, so I can have them set at two different levels on each side of the fridge. There is a separate drawer that can have the temp set to refrigerator temps, freezer temp or it can be used as a beverage chiller. The freezer has three levels with 2 shallow shelves that slide back and forth above the deeper freezer bin. It makes it easier to find smaller packages that normally tend to fall to the bottom of a freezer drawer. The one negative that I can cite about this fridge is the utility drawers. There are 3, so to get to the one in the middle, you must open both French doors. And the drawers are not very deep, due to the fact that this is a counter-depth fridge. The end result is a vegetable crisper and fruit bin that you cannot store much in. In fact, a bunch of celery is too long to fit in any of the bins! Two longer bins would have been better than 3 small bins.
The microwave is an above range model. It has a hood for the vent that can be extended above the front burners below. The vent works much better than the one on the Kenmore that it replaced. It has several automatic settings and came with a metal rack that can be used to "stack" dishes to heat at the same time.
The range is a dual oven electric model with 5 burners. Flat, glass top. It is a challenge to keep it clean but nowhere near as awful as trying to clean a spill up from the old burners and drip pans. The upper oven is smaller but gets the most use. The lower oven has a convection option. It's so nice to have 2 separate ovens for those times I'm preparing a large meal with items that need different oven temperatures. The ovens both brown more evenly than my old, builder's grade range did. Having that 2nd oven meant giving up the storage drawer beneath the oven. I had to re-home all of my baking pans and cookie sheets. The glass top also means that some pots and pans that I have can no longer be used. There's a "hot surface" indicator for each of the burners, but if you have small children, it can be a hazard. The surface doesn't look hot even though it is.
Personally, I don't care for dishwashers with a built in grinder. I find them to be too noisy. My Bosch has a filter for large particles and I just remove/clean it after each wash cycle. My sister just bought a new dishwasher and she took several pieces of her everyday china and glassware into the store to check how they will fit. She ended up changing her mind about her first choice based on that visit.
Whatever you choose, make sure that you have whatever it takes to have the installation done. My appliances were delivered only to learn that my existing range was hardwired to the electric line. The delivery men were not qualified to put in a wall socket, so I had to wait until my brother-in-law could come over to complete the installation for me.
