I'm going to HH in June and I'm taking my parent. We wanted to stay a night or 2 in Savannah. Any recomendations? We want some place nice but don't want to pay a fortune. Something near the historical district maybe? We don't like B & B's though. Any suggestions??:confused3

We've only spent a day in Savannah. We left HHI really early on checkout day and walked around before our flight. It was lovely. Sorry I can't help you with a hotel choice. We walked the river walk, my son would have loved to do a ghost tour in the evening, but it didn't work out and I didn't want to make the drive back to HH late at night from there.:)

There are tons of gorgeous hotels in the historic district but they can get pricey really fast. There is a large Marriott at the end of River Street that is a super location for walking. There is also a Hyatt on River Street. Both can be booked thru their on-line sites and grequently have good package deals.

if you really want to save some money then there is a very decent Days Inn in the district as well as a Hampton Inn. There is a newer hampton inn on MLK that is convienent and very new. Last time I booked that hampton inn it was about $140ish. There may also be a marriott courtyard in the district, I cant recall.

Dont miss Lady and Sons for lunch but do get there early!

You will love HHI!!

Although I haven't stayed there myself, I know there is a Hampton Inn directly across the street from the Visitor Center. There, you can get the tour buses, maps for walking tours, etc.

We spent a few nights at the Westin in Savannah. We did it on Starwood points, but some friends got some pretty good rates using Priceline! You might want to give that a try, if you're willing to take the risk. ;)

BTW, it was a very nice hotel -- across the river from the historic district, but an easy boat ride to get there.
