Where will you be staying? I like to have a car even if I'm staying at a Disney Resort. Many people prefer to use WDW transportation only or maybe in conjunction with an occasional taxi ride; they also pay for transportation from/to the airport.
You may find that the costs for car rental during a 6-day stay are close to the cost of roundtrip transportation from the airport plus a couple of extra taxi rides.
What I like about having a car:
If the resort is spread out, my car may be closer than a bus stop.
I don't have to wait on buses.
I can have extra clothes and cold drinks and snacks in the car ready for me when I leave the parks.
I don't have to stand on the ride back to the resort and all family members can sit near each other and converse (is that good or bad

)
Its easy to go different places outside of WDW for groceries and other shopping, restaurants, and non-Disney entertainment.
A car is convenient for traveling between resorts.
What I like about WDW transportation:
I don't have to ride (wait for) a shuttle at park parking lots. (I usually don't have to when driving either, but occasionally I do.)
It can be interesting to talk to the bus driver.
Much of what I like about a car can be accomplished by using a taxi, but the costs can add up.
I almost always take WDW transportation directly to the MK since parking is at the TTC.
