Need Advice!!!

I was thinking the same thing. I can NEVER do anything right for this women. No one can. Everytime any one of her employees are called to her office it's "what did I/we do wrong know. Nothing positive out of her mouth. I'm afraid to go over her head to her supervisor because I am worried it would get back to her then my work environment would be even more stressful.

Do you really need this job? I'm assuming it is low wage/part time. Is there nowhere else you could work for the same money and less stress?

If I were you I would not hesitate to go over her head. She's being absolutely ridiculous. From the sounds of it all your coworkers should get together and go over her head. Her manager needs to know she is destroying morale and hurting their business.

I would not change my vacation plans either.

You need a different job. Especially if you are part time retail, it really shouldn't be hard to find a different job. Heck, sign up with a temp agency - Accountemps looks for people to do medical billing - and if you've done medical billing you can do AR/AP work. Target or WalMart have high turnover. Durham is not so small that there is only one job in town and part time retail at a grocery store is not so high paying that you can't replace that income. Do it fast, there is a recession coming, but right now getting hired should be easy.

Is it possible that she thought it was this year you were needing off? Maybe she said No because she was taking off also

If she wont let you transfer to another store because she wants you to stay on her team, you might want to let her and/ or the store manager know that unless this time off is approved you will be looking for other employment. They can lose you for a week or forever. Their choice. Id do this only if I would be OK losing this income and not being able to replace it. Id expect someone this petty to not give you a good reference so it may take a bit to find a new job, unless you have other references you can use.

Otherwise start looking now for a new job on the DL. Keep your current employer out of it as long as possible. And have fun telling her "bye!".
