We are going for a short trip in Jan 07 for the marathon. It would be ideal to use pts but we have all those worked out for coming trips. So, what would be our best option....

A. Wait for AP discounts to come out so we can book Poly, CR, or WL. These will all work well for transportation to and from Marathon

B. Try booking cash ressie through DVC for VWL

C. Try finding pts from a member to rent. I know this is a touchy subject.

D. Any other suggestions :thumbsup2

I think I would look for someone to transfer points to your account if you are going to book a studio. That would probably less money than the poly or CR cash rate.

Whenever we are out of points, and need a cash ressie, we stay somewhere that we wouldn't stay if we were using points.

I just added a couple of days on to our upcoming trip and didn't want to use any more points. I called the passholder reservation number and got a great deal (at least I think so) of $185 a night at AKL.

So, I vote for using the AP discount. :thumbsup2

Good luck on your decision!!

Stay at OKW. You can walk from the service entrance (closer to the stop light than the main entrance) over to the start of the race. And OKW won't cost as many points. Get someone to transfer you the points you need to stay.

At the stop light at Disney Vacation Club Drive and Bonnet Creek Parkway, go straight across the little bridge and hand a right. You'll be right at the race start.

Today, I called MS just to see what was available from Jan 4 til 7th on a cash ressie. All requests were available which includes 2 studios or 2 bedrooms at VWL, BCV and BWV. I thought, OK, this is good cause I wasnt expecting anything this time of year on cash.

But then sticker shock kicked in!! All of these qoutes were with DVC discount and were based on todays prices, could be higher in Jan.

VWL studio, $344 + tax per night, 2 bed $1,040 + tax per night

BCV and BWV studio, $356 + tax per night, 2 bed $1,070 + tax per night

We definitely will not be cash ressieing. Makes me wish I had a few more pts right about now!!

Lord have mercy!!! That's definitely when addonitis would strike me :scared1: How many points do you own?

We own 350 pts and already have 1 trip in the works for Dec for a 2 bed at VWL. And hoping for a May 07 to BCV so the kids can take advantage of Stormalong Bay. The Marathon in Jan. is what is beckoning us for a quick trip in Jan., but we wouldnt have the pts available for that trip. Oh well, we will figure something out.

If I have points to borrow, I borrow, but maybe that's not your philosophy! I even borrowed for a January ressie and we have March UY, I never thought I would do that, but we wanted to go and enjoy the BWV for just a "couple" time, we often have guests.

Bobbi :)
