We will be checking in to BCV on October 1. Because of this new "room ready" policy, we are going to take a late flight out of Boston and stay somewhere cheap on the night of September 1.
Any suggestions? All we want is somewhere clean and cheap, lol. Shall I try Priceline? The $20.03 room at Courtyard Marriott is sold out.
Thanks for ANY help you can give me - which hotel, how to get from there to BCV, etc.

We stayed at the Country Inn and Suites at the airport our last trip. The rooms were clean, they had a continental breakfast and free shuttle from the airport. We then used the Happy Limo in the morning to get to VWL. We got a great price through Orbitz. We have also had success with priceline.

We always do what you are doing (although we drive and arrive late afternoon the day before our WDW stay begins) and always use Priceline for our hotel. We bid the WDW zone and start at $35. We usually get the Hyatt Orlando but have also gotten (1 time each) the Rennaissance Worldgate, the Sheraton Safarie and the Hotel Royal Plaza. Only once have we had to bid more than the $35 and on that occasion we got the room for $38 (Hyatt Orlando). They will add a $5.95 fee, per reservation...not per night, and local tax. They money is not refundable.

We have had great luck with Priceline, both in Orlando and in other places we have travelled. I'd highly recommend them.

We stayed last Th,Fri, Sat, at Marriott Grand Vista before checking in at OKW and the 2BR was not worth the $179 a night. Cheap furniture, linens and blankets. Broken lock on the front door. Low low wattage light bulbs. Bugs. No light in the loo. Only above the shower. Guess they dont want you reading on the can. We were SO glad to get home to OKW.

We tried Priceline when we went in June. We asked for the airport area because we would be arriving at 10pm. That way we could take the free hotel shuttle to the hotel, and take it back the next day to pick up our car rental. Well, as it happened, we were offered a bump in Hartford, CT, and were rerouted to FLL, where they gave us 2 hotel rooms (we were four adults) and $300. vouchers for our next flights. We had already booked our car rental for the next day, so we were okay there, and we walked away from our prepaid Priceline hotel ($55. total). We will definitely do this on our next trip. All in all, we arrived 30 minutes later at Boardwalk then we planned on....not a bad deal. (We got the Amerisuites/with breakfast on our priceline bid.) Best of luck!

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the "room ready' policy referred to above?

We're leaving for Disney this coming Thursday evening (WOOHOO!) and used Priceline for a room near the airport since we'll be getting in at 9:30 p.m. I bid $26 for a 3 star that got accepted and we'll be staying at the Marriott for a total cost, including taxes and the $5.95 processing fee, of $34.45. I used to work for Marriott and the employee rate for this hotel is $49/night before taxes. Priceline is definitely the way to go!

We were happy with the cleanliness and the price is great. You can walk to restaurants on 192. They have a pretty nice pool too.

For those of you who tried priceline-
do you have children? I have been hesitant to use priceline because I have two kids and the priceline site states that you may only get one double bed.

But I would definitely do priceline if it was just the two of us.

I would like to know about the double bed issue also. Our reservation starts on a Sunday and we are considering flying down Friday night and doing Seaworld on Sat. We can't decided if we should try and get a room at AKL or get a cheaper room off site.

We usually stay at the Country Inns and Suites in Calypso Cay. It's a few minutes from WDW and is a great resort. They have 3 pools, free (very large) cont. bfast, free mini golf, and very clean rooms. We will be staying there in April our 1st night. We then check in to BWV for 5 nights and back to Country Inn for 1 night (Fri.) and then a week at Vistana.

We have one child, and I decided to risk priceline for our one night stay prior to our cruise on October 2. I got the Marriott for $27, with taxes, the total is $35.50. Bidding for travel recommends that I call the hotel directly and request a 2 bed room, although there are no guarantees. I'll post my experiences when we get back. In looking at posters experiences (on biddingfortravel.com, most are offered rooms with 2 beds, and have to ask for a king, if that is what they want. Of course, in an area like NYC where most hotel rooms usually have only 1 bed, Priceline would be riskier than in Orlando. (my guess--I'll find out for sure in five weeks)
