I never go into the parks with kids - my son is nearly 20. In a little less than one month I'll be there with my two nieces, ages 8 and 10. What sort of things should I carry into the park that I may not think of - I'm really not used to hauling around with children. Any advice will be appreciated.

Money? I would make sure that they have their own fannie pack or small slingpack. They might want to carry an autograph book, camera, pen, money, small flashlight, toys, etc. My DS and DD have their own ideas of what they like to carry. They are 11 and 9. It works really well to have them carry their own stuff. Saves my back!

Water- but you already knew that.
If they have long hair or long enough to make a ponytail, bring extra hair bands. I also bring a small brush. Another popular item is a disposable camera.

Socks and a change of clothes for each of them. Baby Wipes. If they are girls some hair detangler and brush are great if you have room. Extra hair ties. Film, lots of film.

I can not tell you how nice it is to put on fresh socks 1/2 way through the day, when your feet are icky. Or to brush your hair. Revives us for the rest of the evening.
