Need advice re: DD, please

When should I put on her princess dress

  • First thing in the morning, make the most of the magic!!

  • Go back to the room at 11:00, all day's too long, changing in the bathrooms is no fun!

  • After lunch, let her wear it for a chunk of the day, but not get it filthy at lunch!

  • She'll want to be beautiful, don't put it on until dinner and let her wear it all evening!

Zoe and I are going to the Princess dinner at 5:50 on Sunday. We have to check out of our hotel by 11:00am, but will probably plan to be over at the park early in the AM.
Here's where I need the advice...when should I put her in her Sleeping Beauty Dress??? Should I put it on in the morning and let her wear it all day? Should I take her back to the hotel to check out at 11 and put it on her then? Should I basically change her in the bathrooms at DL or DCA right before we go to dinner? Should I change her (once again in the bathrooms) after lunch?
She's 3.5. I think she'd love wearing it all day. My concerns would be her getting it very dirty (especially with lunch) and have it not look decent for meeting and taking pic's with the princesses. I'm also wondering about comfort...will it hinder her going on any rides/activities? One thing I've been thinking of is to have her leggings or shorts and a little cami top on underneath her dress and we can take it off and put it back on when we need to.....I just don't know....
What do you all think???
Thanks!

I vote for D: She'll want to be beautiful, don't put it on until dinner and let her wear it all evening!

I think she'd love the idea of getting dressed up right before her big "date" with the princesses. If you dress her in the morning with that in mind, you shouldn't have to "change" her, just slip the dress on over her outfit. That way you wouldn't have to fight doing the whole-outfit change-ola in the restroom (major endeavor!).

I guess some of your decision is based on when you plan to tell Zoe about the "big date." If she already knows, she's probably asking you already "Is today the day?!" (DS is 5 and this is the question EVERY MORNING about DL!) It might work well to start the day out with "We have a very important dinner to go to tonight!" and build from there.

DS can't have a meal without wearing 40% of it. Since he's an only child, I have no idea if this is an age thing, a boy thing, or a kid thing. Heck, maybe it's just him! He gets dressed in the good stuff AT THE LAST POSSIBLE MINUTE.

OTOH, I'd want to wear the dress all day! princess: Do they have Aurora dresses in a women's 12?? :rotfl:

Good luck and let us know what you decide. Can't wait to see pictures!

I vote for D, I doubt she would be comfortable in the dress all day long and some of the magic of being in the dress would wear off long before dinner. Have a great time.

I only have princes (!) who wear what they like and get dirty, no problem, I'll keep this on with a big stain thank you!

BUT, last week at Disneyland we saw umpteen princesses of all ages at the park, wearing their dresses morning, noon and night. Don't know what all those folks did or didn't do with their DDs, but I think whatever you decide will work out just fine! No one was complaining about being uncomfortable, though, let me tell you! They're all as proud as can be.

Great Question! I am also taking my dd who is 4 for lunch at Ariel's. I will bring her dress and slip it over whatever she is wearing right before lunch. It is the Belle dress and her arms will be exposed so I will dress her in a turtleneck or long sleeve shirt that day. Then if she wants to, she can wear it for the rest of the day.

Have fun whatever you decide!

I voted D too. I would get a locker and store it in there and then put it on at Ariel's Grotto. They have a very nice bathroom downstairs where you can both freshen up before all those photo ops! Whatever you decide though is a winner since you will be at the Happiest Place on Earth, there can be no wrong decision!
