Here is the deal. We are finally in single digits away from leaving for DW, Yippee :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: We are staying at the POR and I'm getting a little nervous with all the renovations but we are a family of 5 have no other choice other than the deluxe. My son and I were looking at the pics of the other resorts and came across pics of stomalong bay, WOW!!! I then checked availablity for the last 3 nights of our stay and it would run around 800 for the 3 nights. Is the YC and BC worth it? Please give me your opinion. I would greatly appreciate it. Just a little info : It will be me my DH, DS-12, DD-8, and DD-5. we have annual passes. Thanks;)

We were scheduled to stay at POR from May 21-28th for our family of 5's first trip to Disney. About a month before we left, after reading about renovations, we decided to move ourselves to the YC for the entire length of our stay. Boy, am I glad we did! The location can't be beat!!! You can WALK to Epcot! The Boardwalk is right there and the POOL is awesome! My kids, DS's ages 10, 8, and 2 , as well as my 5 year old niece LOVED it! And actually so did I! It was fabulous! I'd definitely stay YC or BC again. AFter taking buses and seeing where POR actually is, I don't think you can beat the location of an Epcot or Magic Kingdom Resort and I think they are worth the money if you can swing it. If you are splitting your stay, go to YC last because once you get there, you won't want to leave!
Have fun!

for the reasons already stated BUT if $ is tight what are you giving up? Keep in mind meals tend to be more expensive in a deluxe hotel.

Hi,
I hope YC/BC are worth the money, because we are staying there for our Ann. trip in July.
We have always stayed at the mods. We have stayed at PO twice and the CSR once and ASMu for one night.
This is our 30th Ann. and I think the local alone is going to make this resort worth the extra money.
I am looking forward to SAB also, but just to be able to walk to Epcot and MGM is the reason we picked this resort.
I am also hopeful that a deluxe will make this Ann. magical.
30 yrs is a big deal to us.

I stayed at BCR w/my 8 year old son last year for five days; it was really, really nice -- he loved it and still talks about it. The pool was fantastic, the room was luxurious, the location was super (we did Epcot and MGM a lot), and the food (Beaches and Cream) was pretty good, and not all that expensive. For the five of you, the room cost works out to about $50 a day each -- not so bad when you think of it that way. My feeling is, if you have the money, go for it -- I can't imagine you'll be sorry you did.

I don't think it is worht it just for the pool alone but the combination of architecture, ambiance, room size, pool, being on the lake, the location in reference to Epcot, The Studios and surrounding resorts, dining choices and recreation at your fingertips, then it is worth it. If you think it will be stretching it and that will weigh on your mind the whole time, stick with POR. I juts got back from there a couple weeks ago and I had a wonderful time.

We stayed at POR one night in Nov. before moving to the BC. We thought it was small for 5 people. I think you will like having the extra space that a deluxe resort offers. My kids really love SAB, & the boardwalk.

We stayed at the Beach Club May 15-21. We had previously stayed at POR every trip because we thought it was so wonderful. And it is, don't get me wrong, but the Beach Club blew us away. Our kids (8 + 4) kept asking to go back to SAB rather than staying at the parks. We had a standard view room, 4624, that was perfect (non-smoking, full balcony, 2 queens and daybed). We could see the high Epcot fireworks and the MK fireworks from our balcony. If money isn't too tight, I would do it.

I then checked availablity for the last 3 nights of our stay and it would run around 800 for the 3 nights. Is the YC and BC worth it?

Nope. I don't think so. That rate has got to be at least twice as much as staying at PO-R and probably even more than that. I have stayed at the BC ... in the Villas and I really liked it. But, I think you have have just as good of a time by staying at PO-R and saving that extra $400-$500 for meals.

The Beach Club is my favorite resort! (we just bought DVC at the BC Villas.....) BUT, I think the "is this worth it" questions are difficult because it really does depend on a person's financial situation. If you felt like you got a great deal at POR but you could have afforded more and have a "splurging" mentality about money, then I think the location and the overall scene at the BC, including the pool, is worth paying extra for (but I wouldn't pay rack rate - only discounted).. BUT, as others have said, if money is tighter, it probably isn't worth totally maxing your budget and worrying about money and having to pay off a huge bill after..... POR is very nice and has a great pool, and you will enjoy it. If you choose that, enjoy it and don't think about whether you may have liked something else better!

I love Stormalong Bay and the Epcot Resorts area, so it would be worth it for me.

But you do have other options... you could get connecting rooms at any of the resorts. We went with 5 people and got connecting rooms at All Stars. There was plenty of room to stretch out and it was nice to have 2 bathrooms for our group. :)

We are also a family of 5 - last year we stayed at POR for 4 days and then switched to YC. We loved the YC. SAB was great. We
thought por was ok - I didn't like the out doors theme. Once we got to YC, we were glad that we treated ourselves. Last year
the rate was much less than it is this year, so I don't think we will be able to stay at YC. If you have the extra money to go there for a few days go for it!!!

Well, you can't really ask me for an objective answer because I'm partial to the YC!!!:teeth: However, I can offer this advice: if you have an AP, then check the AP rates. You might be able to get that rate below $800!

Would I go into debt or stretch the budget to the point that I had to count every penny we spent for it? NO. But if you've got the extra cash to spend, then by all means--SAB is LOADS of fun! :D

Thanks for the advice from everyone. ;) I called earlier today and was told the rate would be w/tax 238.00. I then booked 3 nights. :p The way I look at it is when I first booked POR for 7 nights w/o any codes it was 1344.00 or so, now with 5 nights at the POR and 3 nights at BC it will be 1100. ( Now 7 nights at POR with a code was 695.00.) $400 I figure, is not bad for an extra night and a short stay at the BC. I am sooooo excited. This will be our first time staying on grounds :p. My husband is even starting to get excited. :) He is one of those who feels like been there done that don't need to go back, kinda of person. Go figure. Anyway, thanks again to everyone, I knew I could count on yall for some honest opinions. DW and SAB here we come:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

DALPAL-We want to spend our 30th there, also. We want to stay at the BC in 2004 and celebrate our 30th anniversary and DD's 11th birthday after school gets out next May. Please make a trip report when you get back. I have a lot of planning to do!:p

Hi We will be at the YC, but I will be happy to make a trip report about our stay.
I have never gone to WDW in July(only in May)before. I am a little worried about the heat and crowds.
This will be our 4th trip to WDW. It will also be without the Grandkids.
So I am so looking forward to taking it slow and easy and just soaking in all the sights and sounds.
Next year we are planning to take the G-kids in May or June, because we felt bad for not taking them this year, but for our 30th we wanted to have a nice adult trip just the two of us.;) Besides that will mean we get to go again. :jester:

OH and maybe we will see you there next year:D. Although we will be staying at one of the value resorts then.
Dont forget your lime green ribbon or mickey, so we can keep an eye out for you!
Happy Anniversary in advance!

I think your kids will love SAB, we had our daughters Bday party at the sandcastle club (childcare room at YC?BC) last year becasue of SAB. After 2hours in the party room we and our guest were allowed to use SAB unfortunately it stormed but we managed to get a CM Manager to let us return the next day. We had a blast!

Longsx3: My kids will surely love SAB. They have been looking at the pics on *********** of the pool area and can't stop saying how awesome it is. ;) I'm sooo excited that they are sooo excited.:) We can't wait to get there.

I am sure the adults will love it as much as the kids. This was the first party Savannah had ever had with Family in Florida, my DH is in the AF, so we had more adults than kids and they all loved it too. We didn't do the parks last year so Savannah is very excited about going in June. We are trying to get as much as possible before we head to Germany. When we return we will be going on our first Disney Cruise.

Enjoy your trip!
