Need advice on window coverings

I posted this question on the cooking, crafting thread, but I though I'd try here too.

Just moved into a house in FL with awful blinds left by the previous owner. I'm trying to decide whether to replace them with new blinds or try pleated shades instead.

I welcome any suggestions as to style, brand, etc.

I have pleated shades in most of the rooms in my house. Dust catchers, hard to clean, the strings have broken on several...

Stick with the blinds. There are some very nice fabric type blinds out there and textured vinyl type blinds.

As the shades go kaput, they are being replaced with blinds.

Are they vertical or mini blinds? I had vertical blinds (which I hate) on all the windows when I moved in - some I replaced with faux wood blinds, and on some I hung curtains and just keep the blinds open all the way behind them so they are hidden.

We just put these panel tracks up in our house in Florida and I LOVE them. I got the sunscreen ones and they do a great job of keeping the room cool and look better then vertical blinds.
